The following prices are based on high resolution photography and logos supplied by client in digital format.

Prices include one layout, one set of minor changes and one colour PDF for approval. Prices DO NOT include scanning photographs, these will be quoted individually. Additional design options, photography and changes quoted separately. Please make cheques payable to Primal Communications. All artwork charges paid in full prior to beginning project. All prices subject to 5% GST & 7% PST
Additional Charges for materials that are not submitted properly: 1. If material supplied is not supplied in the format described above, the advertiser agrees to accept responsibility for payment to Primal Communications for additional costs incurred in the production of the ad, including design and typesetting. Additional charges may apply if any digital print-ready art submitted must be altered at the request of the advertiser to meet technical requirements of the publication. A written estimate of additional charges will be prepared and submitted to the advertiser for approval prior to commencement of work by Primal Communications. 2. Any changes made after proof has been authorized will result in additional charges. 3. Artwork submitted after September 30, 5:00pm may not be published. It is the responsibility of the advertiser to ensure advertising materials are submitted on time.

Artwork deadline September 30, 5:00pm:
The 2008 Nanaimo Visitor’s Guide is 100% digital workflow. The publication is built in Mac InDesign CS2. QuarkXpress files are no longer be accepted. Acrobat PDF/X-1a files required.
Acceptable formats:
For Formatted Ad photographs: Adobe Photoshop CS2 - CMYK Tiff or JPEG For Formatted Ad logos: Adobe Illustrator CS2 - .ai or EPS vector file (all fonts converted to outlines) preferred For Display Ads: PDF File – Supplied artwork must be CMYK and 300dpi (400 dpi preferred), PDF files will not be checked and errors will be the responsibility of the supplier. Tips: Before PDF is Exported (from Distiller, InDesign, Quark, etc), make sure PDF/X-1a setting is used and all types are outlined to avoid any font problems. Adobe InDesign CS2 Adobe Illustrator CS2 - .ai or EPS (all fonts converted to outlines), Adobe Photoshop CS2 - CMYK Tiff
Advertising artwork must be provided with the following:
Photographs submitted for all formatted ad must be minimum 5” x 7” at 300 dpi (400 dpi preferred) All artwork at 300 - 400 dpi CMYK images only Fonts, Mac only, PC fonts are not accepted (convert to outline if possible) Colour proof MUST accompany advertising artwork PC formatted files and Corel files are unacceptable InDesign or Illustrator files (with the exception of PDF) must be accompanied by all fonts used (outline all types if possible) and all associated files (linked files) sized at 100%. Files must be saved using CMYK colour mode (RGB not acceptable). Please contact Primal Communications (250.754.8318) for further information regarding digital artwork. Failure to comply with these specifications will result in artwork being returned or additional charges.
Proofing:
PDF proof will be supplied to advertisers prior to the publication going to print. Advertisers will be notified by email when the proof is ready. These must be signed and returned to Tourism Nanaimo to indicate acceptance of final ad design prior to placement in publication. Advertisers assume responsibility for proofing and accuracy of information.
