							                               Bylaws Committee Election Process

History:

This process builds on the informal outreach already begun by current DAC officers.
The 2008 election was scheduled for June and postponed to November. Board advises a June 2010
election.

Purpose:

To inform the DAC membership about the DAC Executive Board elections and afford the opportunity
to declare their candidacy and campaign for their positions of interest.

Positions:

Chairperson/President

Vice-Chairperson/Family Engagement

Parliamentarian/Membership

Secretary/Analysis

Term:

July 2010- June 2012

Requirements: (by June 1st DAC Board meeting)

   1) Declaration of Candidacy form

   2) Reason for running 300 word statement

   3) Signatures from five SCUSD parents

Election Procedures: (June 8th DAC meeting unless postponed)

   1. Candidates must be present on date of election.

   2. Candidates verbal presentation of her or his reason for running.

   3. Question period with a few written questions from the DAC membership.

   4. DAC representatives who are recorded on this year’s attendance signups and present will
      receive one paper ballot per represented group.

   5. Ballots will be counted on election evening by Bylaws/Election. Observers welcome.

   6. Candidates who receive largest plurality will be considered the winner for each office.

   7. Results announced at the appropriate time on June agenda.

   8. Newly elected officers will make a statement.
