Bracknell, UK – 4 May, 2005 - Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BRCD), the world’s leading provider of infrastructure solutions for Storage Area Networks (SANs), today announced that Ian Whiting has been named Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Whiting assumes worldwide sales responsibilities after two years as Vice President of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and Latin America Sales. He joined Brocade in February 2001 as Executive Director of Partner Sales in EMEA, with responsibility for driving sales of Brocade products through key OEM and Channel Partners. Prior to joining Brocade, Whiting held sales management positions at Compaq, NetWorth, Cognos Inc., and Data Translation. Commenting on the announcement, Mike Klayko, Chief Executive Officer of Brocade, said, “Ian brings a strong background of leadership and industry experience to his expanded role at Brocade. He has done a terrific job building our business and relationships in EMEA. His commitment to our customers and his proven record of success in the industry will continue to reinforce Brocade’s top market position.” Brocade also named Ulrich Plechschmidt, previously the regional director for Central and Eastern Europe, to head EMEA and Latin America Sales. Plechschmidt has been responsible for growing Brocade sales in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Eastern Europe since July 2002 and was previously at IBM.
