Subject: Retrofitting the Tellabs 7100™ Cabinets with the ADC
       Storage Spool Assembly.

Action Required:
 YES:  NO:

Description of Bulletin: The purpose of this Quality Bulletin is to establish common
procedural requirements for retrofitting (2) ADC Storage Spool Assemblies into previously-installed
Tellabs 7100 cabinets. Initial deployment of rack and stacked Tellabs 7100 cabinets did not include
any fiber management systems to manage slack of the fiber jumpers routed within the cabinet,
necessitating that all intra-cabinet fibers be specifically engineered to the nearest inch for each A to
Z termination.

The addition of two 3RU ADC Storage Spool Assemblies into the 7100 cabinet configuration will
improve intra-cabinet fiber management, allow for standardization of intra-cabinet fiber jumper
lengths and increase engineering and COT efficiencies (refer to Figure 1). All new rack and
stacked Tellabs 7100 cabinets shipped as of July 2008 will be equipped with two ADC Storage
Spool Assemblies pre-installed in the rear of each cabinet. All cabinets installed prior to July 2008
will require retrofit with two ADC Storage Spool Assemblies. Design Engineering shall identify the
need for retrofit and order the necessary materials. The COEIT shall receive the materials and install
as instructed per this Bulletin.

Material Description
The ADC Storage Spool Assembly, part number FOP-HNSP0525-23VZ (refer to Figure 2) is 23
inches wide, 5.2 inches tall with 1.75 inch hole spacing. Each assembly will be shipped with (4)
#12-24 x 0.250 screws, (4) #12- 24 x 0.500 screws, (4) #12 washers, and (2) 2 inch standoff
brackets. Only the (4) #12-24 x 0.250 screws shall be used to mount the storage spool assembly
directly to the cabinet mounting rails. The (4) #12- 24 x 0.500 screws, (4) #12 washers, and (2) 2
inch standoff brackets will not be used for this installation and shall be discarded.

Installation Requirements
(2) FOP-HNSP0525-23VZ Storage Spool Assemblies shall be installed in the bottom rear of each
Tellabs 7100 cabinet identified by the Design Work Package (WDP) notes (refer to Figure 3).
The top assembly shall be mounted first, directly beneath the 1RU horizontal fiber trough. The
bottom edge of the assembly shall be positioned 12.25 inches above the cabinet floor. Secure the top
assembly to the rear cabinet rails using mounting holes 15 and 20. Mounting holes are counted from
the bottom of the rail upwards.

Note: The existing 10.5 inch support plate is secured to the back side of the rail and shall remain in
place (refer to Figure 2). The Storage spool assemblies shall be secured to the front of the rails
using mounting holes identified.

The bottom assembly shall be mounted second, directly beneath the top assembly. The bottom edge
of the second assembly shall be positioned 7.00 inches above the cabinet floor. Secure the bottom
assembly to the rear cabinet rails using mounting holes 9 and 14. Mounting holes are counted from
the bottom of the rail upwards.
Note: The existing 10.5 inch support plate is secured to the back side of the rail and shall remain in
place (refer to Figure 2). Storage spool assemblies shall be secured to the front of the rails using
mounting holes identified.
