the printing and ink manufacturing

company and touch upon their all-n

Konica_s Humble Beginnings
Like all other big names in the pri
nting business Konica Minolta too h
as roots way back in the past and f
orayed into the printing business d
ue to the potential of printers and
 inks in the market.

Rokusaburo Sugiura began selling ph
otographic materials at his Tokyo a
pothecary in 1873 and laid the foun
dations for Konica. Minolta was fou
nded in 1928 to initially manufactu
re cameras and then went on to pion
eer technologies such as a latent i
mage transfer system, the world_s f
irst magnification and reduction ph
otocopier and the world_s first pho
tocopier to produce two-color image
s in a single pass.

Konica Minolta gave its share of fi
rsts to the world in the imaging an
d printing field. Among these was t
he world's first double lens reflex
 camera in 1937, then the world_s f
irst camera with a coated lens in 1
946. The year1962 took the Hi-Matic
camera by Konica Minolta beyond th
e realms of the earth and into spac
e by astronaut John Glenn on Friend
ship 7.

Going onto the printing and copier
field, Konica Minolta launched the
world_s first copier to use latent
image transfer in 1975, and then in
1983 came the copier with zoom mag
nification again another first! 198
7 and 1991 saw the world_s first si
ngle-pass two-color copier and thre
e-color combination copier and fax
machines respectively. In 2001, Kon
ica Minolta launched the polymerize
d toner.

Konica_s Environment Friendly Techno
logy

The Polymerized Toner
People today are more environmental
ly conscious than ever. Leading thi
s trend is the Polymerized Toner th
at Konica created to reduce waste a
nd printing costs.
The Manufacturing Process:
The first step in the process is to
 synthesize resins that are approxi
mately one hundred nanometers i.e.
one billionth of a meter in diamete
r via emulsion polymerization. Thes
e polymerized resin particles are t
hen chemically coagulated and fused
 into precise ratios. Coloring pigm
ents and additives are added to obt
ain the standard colors.
The process also utilizes very litt
le energy and hence conserves energ
y which now a days is a very import
ant and expensive commodity!

What to Expect From the Polymerized
Toner

Now why would one use the polymeriz
ed toner, here is why,

All Konica Minolta color laser prin
ters use polymerized toner, which r
eproduces high-quality images to gi
ve its customers be it in professio
nal photography or business documen
ts, complete satisfaction and value
 for money.
The small diameter and uniform shap
e of these toner particles offer su
perior concealment, which means spa
ce previously left between each ton
er particle has now been eliminated
. As a result, the toner provides c
onsistent, high-quality images with
  improved reproduction of text and
fine lines.

Since polymerized toner needs no oi
l for fusing, it produces natural-l
ooking low-gloss color images and d
ocuments that can be written on as
well as allow notes to be attached
to, and are therefore suitable for
business use.

Smaller toner particles have a bett
er transfer rate to paper, which th
us reduces the amount of toner used
 in image reproductions hence conse
rving the toner and reducing recurr
ing toner replacement costs.

Polymerized toner is also friendlie
r to our environment. It requires l
ess energy in its manufacturing pro
cess than conventional toners that
use traditional kneading and pulver
izing methods.
The amount of CO2, NOx and SOx emis
sions that cause global warming and
acid rain are cut by approximately
 30%.

Therefore if you are planning to bu
y a printer and are very conscious
of the environment around you and w
ould want to contribute to it_s bet
terment; and also be able to use te
chnology then what are you waiting
for go ahead and get yourself the a
ppropriate printer according to you
r requirements from the diverse ran
ge provided by Konica Minolta.

In addition, rest assured you are g
etting value for money and you are
not guilty of splurging on technolo
gy that will destroy our environmen
t in the long run because Konica pu
ts in efforts to make their product
s as environment friendly as is pos
sible!
