PoINT Jukebox Manager now certified by Open Text



Siegen. PoINT Jukebox Manager, a product of the storage specialist PoINT
Software & Systems GmbH, has been certified by Open Text being the only external
jukebox management solution for the integration of optical storage systems into
Livelink® ECM – Archive Server. The special license “PoINT Jukebox Manager for
Open Text” includes all necessary extensions to operate existing CD/DVD
installations as well as to integrate new blu-ray disc jukeboxes in an Open Text
archive. This enables an easy migration of existing systems to state-of-the-art
storage technologies. Additionally, the various functionalities of PoINT Jukebox
Manager are also available to Open Text users. The new integrated solution is
available from now on.


PoINT Jukebox Manager for Open Text
PoINT Jukebox Manager, which is well established in the DMS market, has been certified by
Open Text being the only external software for controlling optical storage systems with
Livelink® ECM – Archive Server. Existing CD/DVD jukeboxes, which have been controlled
directly by Archive Server beforehand, can now be integrated into a state-of-the-art archive
infrastructure by PoINT Jukebox Manager. If requested the data archived thereon can be
migrated to new storage systems. Moreover, PoINT Jukebox Manager allows the combination
of any optical storage with Livelink® ECM. This way, latest developments like blu-ray discs
are now also a possible long-term archiving solution for numerous Open Text customers. The
special license “PoINT Jukebox Manager for Open Text” includes all necessary extensions.
Furthermore, Open Text users profit by numerous PoINT Jukebox Manager options. This way,
the “Remote Connectivity Option” allows the connection of an optical jukebox via iSCSI. In
combination with the “Mirroring Option”, an automated creation of identical media in systems
which have been installed at different locations and fire protection areas is possible. A
comprehensive test routine, which is an integral part of the overall functionality, checks the
data and media for their readability in configurable intervals or on a manual trigger. As a
result of this test, the administrator receives a report on the condition of the media and the
information stored thereon. This way it is possible to copy data in time to a new medium.
