Suffrage Day was on Saturday, 19 September. N.Z was the 1st country in the world to grant full voting rights to
women, in 1893. 25 years before Great Britain and 27 years before USA. Our $10 note is a reminder, Kate Sheppard and
the white camellia.

Heads up to the awesome Year 13 young women who wore white on Friday to celebrate NZ women’s
victory.

• Please make sure you have checked the timetable and know when to turn up for your photos. Remember to leave
   class 10 minutes before your photo is due to be taken.
• The Waka Ama photo will be taken at the same time as the Dragon Boating photo
• All Waikato/NZ Reps - if possible please wear your representative uniform for this photo - e.g. shirt, track suit etc.

PATHWAYS
University of Waikato Information Evening: This is being held on the Hamilton campus on Wednesday 30th
September, 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm. Years 12 and 13 students and their parents/caregivers are invited to the Evening to meet
with University staff to talk about degrees, entrance requirements, accommodation and scholarships. No appointments
have to be made. During the evening there will also be some presentations and tours of the campus and accommodation
will be available from 4.00 pm. For programme details, please see the Library or Pathways notice boards or uplift a
programme from the Pathways Centre.

Defensive Driving Course: Held your restricted driver's licence for 6 months? A Defensive Driving Course is being held
at Melville High School for 4 days during the school holidays. Cost is $100 plus $50 for the assessment. For information,
please see the notice board in the Library foyer or see Mrs Rae-Middleton in the Pathways Centre.

Term Four Events:
Wednesday 14th October, Lunch 2 and period 5, NZ Army presentation in the Pathways Centre. Open to interested senior
students. Please register your interest with Mrs Rae-Middleton.
Wednesday 28th October, 8.45 am, University of Canterbury Course Advice visit, upstairs in the Library.
Tuesday 3rd November, 9.30 am, Step Ahead Training Academy presentation in the Pathways Centre, open to students 16
and 17 years. Please register your interest with Mrs Rae-Middleton.

•   All photos will be taken in the Hall
•   Students are to leave class and come straight to the Hall 10 minutes before their photo is due to be taken to sort
    out standing/seating order and uniforms. If you are not there on time for your photo you will miss out.
•   Some teams are required to bring their own uniforms (Senior A & Development Netball – own tracksuits, Girls 1st XI
    Hockey – own tracksuits). All other teams will have school tracksuits or uniforms provided for them.
•   Students must return to class as soon as their photo has been taken.
•   If you would like to order a photo you can pick up an envelope from the Hall when your photo is taken. You will have
    to return your order to the SSC with payment by Friday 23rd October (week 2 back at school after the holidays).
