The eastern districts of the empire were not in Krishna’s hands. Though the Bahmani Kingdom had all but ceased to exist, Yusuf Adil Shahi, founder of the Adil Shahi dynasty of Bijapur, formerly a component of the Bahmani Kingdom, was knocking mightily on Vijayanagar’s northern doors.
