SINDA –IAEC (NARPANI) TRAINING & CAREER
Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA), the Indian
Activity Executive Committees (IAECs) within Central Singapore District and
the People’s Association Indian Activity Executive Committees Council (PA
Narpani Pearavai) are jointly organising the SINDA-IAEC (Narpani) Training
and Career Roadshow on Saturday, 21 November 2009 from 1.30pm to
4.45pm at OnePeople.sg located at Toa Payoh Lorong 1.
2 About 600 job seekers are expected at the roadshow which promises
more than 1200 job vacancies. Themed “A New Job, A New You”, the
roadshow aims to create awareness about training programmes, channel job
seekers toward job placements in hiring industries and to bring training
providers from hiring industries to the door step of the residents.
3 Mr Heng Chee How, Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office and
MP for Jalan Besar GRC will be the Guest-of-Honour for the event.
4 Service providers offering SPUR (Skills Programme for
Upgrading and Resilience) programmes from the community and social
service, health care, logistics and service sectors will be present to give talks.
Job seekers will also get an opportunity to tour the various booths set up by
the service providers and employers.

The People's Association brings Singaporeans together to take ownership of and contribute
to community well-being. We connect the people and the government for consultation and

We achieve our mission through our network of 1,800 grassroots organisations, five
Community Development Councils, the National Youth Council, National Community

Narpani Pearavai is the co-ordinating council of the Indian Activity Executive Committees
(IAECs) which aims to guide the IAECs in engaging the community through a wide range of
outreach programmes, assist the IAECs and other grassroots organisations to identify and
recruit suitable Indian grassroots leaders and to facilitate collaboration between IAECs and
other grassroots organisations and the larger community.
The Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) is a Self-Help Group set up in August
1991 to address educational and socio-economic issues facing the Indian community in
Singapore. SINDA actively strives to build a well educated and confident community of Indians
that stands together with the other communities in contributing to the progress of multi-racial
In the course of fulfilling its objectives, SINDA works closely with many volunteers, schools and
other grassroots organisations, and has in the process steadily evolved into a credible
organisation that serves as a pillar of the Indian Community in Singapore.
Today, SINDA is managed by a professional team who bring to the table wide ranging
experience in sectors such as education, social services and the corporate world. A Board of
Trustees comprising of highly regarded members of government and private enterprises
oversee SINDA. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam who
is also the Minister for Finance. The President of the Executive Committee is Dr. Balaji
Sadasivan who is also the Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
SINDA organises a wide array of programmes that not only effectively serve to uplift the
educational performance of Indian students, but also promote family unity and help in the socio-
economic development of ethnic Indians in Singapore.
