        GENERAL SCHOOL REMINDERS AND UPDATES

Year Books: The order form for year books is attached to the bottom of the newsletter. Yearbooks are $15. Payment is due
with the order. Orders turned in without payment will not be filled.

2010-2011 School Year: The calendar is done! A hard copy will be coming home in Thursday folders next week. You can
print a color copy from our web site.

Cell Phones: Please be respectful when you enter the school by finishing your phone calls before you enter the building.

Early Pick Up: When students are picked up early they lose valuable instruction time as well as end of the day reminders
and announcements. While we realize early pick up can not always be avoided, please remember that we have 460 students.
It may seem to you like its only one student but it can add up to an afternoon of constant disruptions to a classroom.

Colorado Charter Schools Week/Rally: Hold the Date, Colorado Charter Schools Week - April 19-22, 2010 at the State
Capitol. This is a great opportunity for you and your charter school student to tour the state Capitol, hear from legislators and
learn more about the legislative process. Join hundreds of other charter school parents and students for the Colorado
Charter Schools Rally on the west steps of the State Capitol on Thursday, April 22 from 11:30am-1:00pm.
More information will be coming soon. Questions? Contact Stacy Rivera at the Colorado League of Charter Schools at 303-

Auction Items for Sale: As successful as the auction was, we still have a few items for sale. A few didn’t sell at the auction
and some came in after the fact, like tickets to Disneyland; a weekend at Snow Mountain Ranch and more. The list of items
with their “BUY NOW” price is available online at Black Tie. You can access the list beginning at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 9,
2010. There just might be something there you really wanted and didn’t know it was still available. Be sure to check it out at
www.blacktie-colorado.com then click on auctions and select Highline Academy. There is no bidding and prices are final.
Simply follow the prompts to choose and purchase your selection. Payment may be made through Black Tie using Master
Card, Visa or American Express.

When the sale of items is complete, your items will be available for pick up at Highline. We will notify you when they are
ready.

If you have any questions, please call Linda Lawrence at 303-337-7502 or send an email to ldlgto@comcast.net.

        NOTES FROM THE BOARD

Sadly, our Board of Directors is saying good-bye to two of our members. Frank Coyne, who has served on the Board for the
past year, is moving on to a leadership position at the new Denver Green School. We wish Frank, the best of luck with his
new venture. Kim Easton, an original member and past president of the Board, and our current Vice President, has also
announced her resignation. I am sure I speak for our entire school community in thanking Kim for her years of dedication and
service to the school, the Board and our community. We look forward to her continued involvement in the future!

I also want to take this opportunity to remind our community that there are many opportunities to serve the school, and to get
involved in Highline at the Board level. The Board has committees that address many policy-level aspects of Highline’s
operations, including finance, development, communications and long-range planning. If you are interested in getting
involved, please attend our next meeting on April 12, 2010, at 6:15 p.m. in the school’s library. You can also contact me at
tbulger@silvernbulger.com, for more information.
