HAPPY NEW YEAR CITY OF UKIAH
START OFF THE NEW YEAR RIGHT - WHAT’S YOUR RESOLUTION?
With the New Year come many New Year resolutions.
Here at the Community Services Department we
continue to provide activities and facilities to engage you
in your commitment to the New Year. Whether you
have set a goal for fitness or mastering a new hobby we
encourage you to join us in 2010.
We welcome you to enjoy our parks and outdoor spaces.
We challenge you to tackle the game of golf at the Ukiah
Municipal Golf Course. Likewise, we invite you to
visit the Grace Hudson Museum and the historic Sun
House. We hope that your New Year will take you to
one of our many community facilities such as the Ukiah
Valley Conference Center. And of course we invite you
to join us as we each renew our commitment to health
and wellness through a variety of recreation classes and
activities.
There is a fantastic diversity in the recreation class
offerings. We blend traditional classes with new-wave
classes so that there is something for everyone. From
aerobics to yoga we have a class for each individual. Aside from class offerings there are a number of
youth and adult sports leagues.
The 2010 Winter Spring Recreation Guide highlights what a vibrant community we are! There are
opportunities for art, sport, recreation and nature all within this small community. These opportunities
are alive and successful because of our community members. The community members who plan,
coach, teach, instruct, fundraise, volunteer, maintain, organize and donate to all of the programs and
facilities in Community Services.
And so, I have made my New Year resolution. I resolve to continue in providing these successful and
vital Community Services. I resolve that there will be ways to continue enjoying art, sport, recreation
and nature during our economic crisis. I will work day-by-day with our community members to
keep these opportunities alive. I resolve to be creative, community minded and persistent in finding a
mechanism for funding and staffing all of our activities and facilities. And I invite you to join me!
On your journey into 2010, I wish you and your family good health.
Sincerely,
Katie Merz
Community Services Supervisor
