Tips when Buying Sports Cars: Consi
der Safety Features

When buying a sports car, you shoul
d consider how safe it is to drive.
There are two kinds of safety feat
ures that you need to consider: fun
ctional safety and inactive safety.

Functional safety requires the feat
ures to prevent the automobiles fro
m accidents. This includes efficien
t brakes, responsive grips and reli
able suspension. Below are some of
 these functional safety features.
You should be aware of each feature
so that you know when you have spo
tted your ideal sports car.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY SYSTEMS. This
feature has the ability to sense wh
en a car is out of control and inte
rcedes the wheels by using discrimi
natory braking to specific wheels.
It includes the traction controls a
nd anti-lock brake system. This fea
ture is seen mostly on luxury sport
s cars as it is expensive.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM or ABS let
s automobiles to halt quickly and s
till continue to be easy to maneuve
r. Anti-lock brake systems are acti
vated by using intense pressure so
you need to learn how to do this. D
o not just rely on moderate pressur
e to avoid sliding.

Effective TRACTION HANDLING helps c
ars maintain their grip even during
 acceleration. This feature is most
ly suggested for rear-wheels as it
helps reduce clog and the use of po
wer-assisted brakes to a rotating w
heel.

On the other hand, inactive safety
features are those that protect the
 driver and other passengers whenev
er the functional safety features a
re unsuccessful. This includes the
following:

Adjustable headrests are better cal
led head restraints because this pr
events the driver’s head from snapp
ing back and forth when there is a
collision. It should be compatible
with the occupants’ height to be mo
re effective.

Most vehicles have airbags for a sa
fety feature. Cars that have airbag
s for all passengers and cover the
front and sides are ideal and impor
tant.

When you go for a test drive, remem
ber to check the distance of the ai
rbag from you - the most reliable g
ap is 10 inches away from the airba
g. In order to do so, move the seat
back to a relaxed position and che
ck to make sure there is 10 inches
between the airbag and yourself.

Seat belts are also an important fe
ature in car safety. You should als
o check and make certain that there
are workable seat belts. Seat belt
s can help save you and your family
in case of car accidents. Make sur
e that the vehicle has adjustable s
houlder belts so that the belt can
be adjusted to correspond to the pa
ssenger’s height.
