In midweek action State League Division Seven continued to improve on recent results as
they fell to a creditable 2-3 loss to ADFA FC. The defence force outfit is also struggling at the
wrong end of the table, and was the victors in an entertaining match by the odd goal in five.
Player-Coach Steve Beattie and Ben Morphy were the goal scorers for United. Beattie was
impressed by his team’s outing though and they continued to improve on the weekend when
Belconnen United pipped the boys 4-3. Grant Dixon (2) and a penalty from Zoran Zorevac
was Tuggeranong’s answer to Belconnen’s match-winning four. The State League Division
Eight top-of-the-table clash between Tuggeranong and Yass FC saw Yass emerge winners by
6-3 in a goal fest, as predicted. Barry Dugdale’s tenth of the season and a brace from in-form
Karl Norenaergs wasn’t enough to keep United above their opponents on the ladder. Jake
Padrotta’s State League Division Four continue to rise as they scored a third win in a row
seeing off lowly White Eagles 6-1 at Kambah. A hat-trick from Premier League striker Luke
Fattore certainly helped, and there were further goals from Pat McCann, his first since
returning to the club, Micah Purdy and Nigel Sparkes. Purdy was also on target in State
League Division Five where Adrian King’s troops are flying high at second on the table. A
seventh goal of the year from Russ Gibbs and maiden strikes from midfielder Ben Holcroft
and striker Nick O’Leary confirmed the victory which was slightly marred by the sending off
of midfielder George Claveria and Tyson Littlewood.

In the Premier Pathway League a strong Canberra FC, featuring several first-grade players,
was too good for Tuggeranong who succumbed 0-4. Luke Skillicorn received his marching
orders in the second half for a brace of quick fire yellow cards. There was no joy in Premier
League under-18 either as Tuggeranong’s poor run of form continued when they were
dispatched 2-3 by Canberra FC. Cameron Amor and David Thompson netted the United
strikes.

Kambah Rovers got their season back on track though with a 1-1 draw at fifth placed
Belnorth 2 where a goal from Milan Novakovic was enough to earn a share of the spoils in
Masters League Division One. Luiz Barone, Don Burningham and Rob McGorm all scored
for the Tuggeranong Saints but it wasn’t enough for the Masters side to avoid a sixth straight
defeat as they were beaten by a well-drilled Canberra FC side 3-6. Tuggeranong Old Boys
had the bye.

At the time of writing there was no news as to the outcome of the State League Division Six
match between Tuggeranong United and Narrabundah.
