The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a community event
that raises funds and awareness for ALL types of cancer. Last year
21 teams from all over Southfield decided to have fun and take action by raising $26,000. Re-
lay For Life aims to celebrate cancer survivors in Southfield, honor those that have been lost
and also fight back against a disease that takes too much. The Relay For Life is for people of
all ages and fitness levels. In fact, the event is focused on community and not athleticism. The
best part about Relay For Life is that funds raised locally will help provide services for Metro-
Detroit residents who are facing cancer- by providing free rides to cancer treatment appoint-
ments and cancer support services. Everyone is encouraged to get involved by helping with
event planning, starting a team, or by just dropping by the park to see what is happening.
