AEROBICS FOR BEGINNERS

Low and high impact aerobics will be offered including steppers,
weights and floor aerobics. This class will also include yogic
exercises for stretching and relaxation. Each workout session
will consist of 10 minutes of warm up, 30 minutes of main aerobic
workout followed by 15 minutes of abdominal and upper body
toning exercise and finish with a cool down stretch. We will also
use the balance ball for lower body and abs workout which helps
in strengthening the upper and lower abdominal muscles also in
firming and toning of the lower body. Participants will need to
bring their yoga mat.

Yogita Sharma holds an international certificate diploma in
fitness aerobics and works at the American Embassy School.

BOLLYWOOD DANCING

Bollywood dances are gaining popularity around the world.
People are passionate to learn Bollywood dance steps as they
are easy to learn and entertaining as well. Bollywood dance is a
fusion of various Indian folk and classical dance styles.

Vikram Samson started dancing at a very young age. He was
awarded the Best Choreographer by Zee Times and has
experience of over 10 years in dance choreography.

CALLIGRAPHIC ART

Calligraphy as we all know is the art of beautiful lettering. In this
course, creative art is combined with fine writing to produce
unimaginable elegant calligraphic art. Art enhances ones
capability of writing in elegant fonts like Old English, Roman,
Italics and more. Main emphasis is given on decorative work to
create one's own monograms, letterheads, invitation cards,
manuscripts, project reports, headings, wall hangings etc.
This is an opportunity to learn the basics of fine lettering and
improvise drawing skill that finally makes you fall in love with your
own creation. Calligraphy pen will be provided to the participants.

The instructor has a degree in Commercial Art and is regularly
taking art and calligraphy classes at the AES and different
venues including the British Council Library.

CERAMIC PAINTING

This class is an exploration of images, rituals, stories and texts
relating to the Divine Feminine on the Indian Subcontinent. Multiple
meanings will emerge from various sources, however we will keep a
gender perspective and focus on female embodiment. Readings
will include various critical perspectives and interpretations as well
as ritual and textual sources. Topics include: Tantric Goddess,
caste and goddesses, demonic feminine, Vedic goddesses,
goddess worship and the status of women, and goddesses/rituals
for conceiving and parturition, and ritual pollution at the time of
menses and postpartum.

Renu Sharma graduated from Delhi University and has a fashion
diploma from IEC School of Art and Fashion. For almost ten
years, she has practiced fashion design. She has her own label

This course is a short-term intensive training in Hindi
conversation for beginners so that they can handle the day to day

India with glimpses into the various periods of transition. It
emphasizes traditions, salient features, secular, religious and
social aspects giving due importance to the monuments. Field
trips would be conducted to the monuments of Delhi bringing
afresh the memories of ancient, medieval, and modern periods.
Connections would be structured to the contemporary period.
Field trips would be held on mutual convenience of people and
would be balanced with theory. Some of the places covered
would be – Akshardham, Lotus temple, Humayun's tomb,
Safdarjang's tomb, Birla House, Rajghat, Jantar Mantar, Red
Fort.

INTRODUCTION TO STAINED GLASS

In this class, participants will learn how to cut, grind and solder
glass pieces into their own stained glass designs. The instructor
has 11 years of experience working with the stained glass, and
most recently has worked with AES high school students and art
teachers to create original stained glass panels for the student

material and will be provided by the instructor.

MADHUBANI PAINTINGS – A folk art from Bihar

Madhubani painting originated in the Mithila region of north Bihar,
India and is an age-old tradition of painting on the walls of the
Kohbar-ghar, the nuptial chamber. The paintings are a
combination of symbolic images of the lotus plant, the bamboo
grove, fishes, birds and snakes in union and they represent
fertility. In this workshop Poorva Musale will teach participants
the basics of drawing Madhubani paintings, sketch from the
reference pictures, apply the designs and then to paint.

Poorva Musale is a commercial artist from Pune who has been
conducting workshops on folk and tribal art for the past 8 years in
Pune, Bombay, Agra and Delhi. Anyone can join – artists, non-
artists, home makers, professionals. The workshop is open to all,

PUEBLO PAINTINGS

The Pueblos are one of the natives of South-West America. They
have been making hand crafted pottery for almost 2000 years.
Most of their designs were either done with Black or White or with
a combination of earthen colors. The most amazing part about
this art form is the various visual effects created by intricate
geometric patterns. They also moved from predominantly
geometric designs in pottery towards naturalistic designs such as
birds, floral patterns and the deer.
Poorva Musale is a commercial artist from Pune who has been

This class will introduce students to core Pilates exercises in
harmony with the use of a fitness ball for alignment, balance and
strength building. Pilates simultaneously strengthens, stretches,
and tones the body, improving posture, balance and poise. It

strengthen the smaller core muscles while larger muscles
become increasingly toned and sleek. This is a class taught
using fitness ball utilizing non-impact, mind-body exercises that
increase the body's range of motion and flexibility. No previous

Taekwon-do is a Korean martial art which denotes the mental
training and the technique of unarmed combat for self defense
and health involving the skilled application of kicks, punches,
blocks and dodges with bare hands and feet. It employs both
graceful movements, powerful and quick techniques at once,
thus is helpful for the balanced development of physical ability.
The practice of Taekwon-do also has the effect of increasing
muscular power and of improving the functions of the heart and
lung. Taekwon-do also has some philosophical implications other
than mere techniques and skills of fighting. The last “do” in the
word Taekwon-do means - the right way of doing something, and
the path of justice.

Master B. Rajendran, is a 7th Degree Black Belt & International
Master Instructor with the International Taekwon-do Federation.
Ms. Rachana Rajendran is a 5th Dan Black Belt. She is an
international instructor and examiner. She teaches and
supervises Taekwon-do classes in many reputed Schools of
Delhi.

The famous 28-Day Yoga plan by Richard Hittleman will be
covered in 12 sessions. The class will present the ancient
eastern practice of yoga in 38 postures and 28 day routines
followed by advanced routines. The most important yoga poses
will be selected to give beginning, intermediate and advanced
versions of each pose. There will be an introduction to yogic
breathing, philosophy and concentration exercises which will
challenge, relax and help advance in practice. This is a
compilation of simple poses combined into a challenging routine
a thorough workout. The objective is to impart fitness through
stimulation and suppleness achieved by regular practice. No
experience is necessary to enroll into this Yoga Fitness class.
Participants will need to bring their yoga mats.

Yoga Meditation is a step by step introduction to the scientific
technique of meditation. It is achieved through the practice of
inner listening or meditation in various poses. The purpose of the
class is to help find inner peace and harmony which leads to
increased clarity and concentration. The level of stillness is
reached using different postures and deep breathing techniques.
The timeless secret of meditation is the heart of the Yoga
philosophy. Yoga is an experience, not a system. To achieve this
level, meditation is indispensable. This is a class for all ability
levels. Participants will need to bring their yoga mats.

3. Payments shall be made in cash or check drawn on Indian
   Bank payable in New Delhi favoring the AMERICAN
   EMBASSY SCHOOL.

4. Classes will take place only when there are six
   participants registered.

5. Fee will be refunded only in case of course cancellation
   and not for any other reasons.
6. Venue for the classes will be posted at Gate#2 of the
   American Embassy School on Friday, August 29.
