600611                                                    an injured 66 year old para-glider in the Chilliwack
                                                          Lake area. HETS was utilized to transport the
                                                          patient to Chilliwack Hospital.
29 15:45      CTL    LAND            11                   11 Vernon SAR volunteers responded to rescue
600612                                                    motorists that went over an embankment on the
                                                          Aberdeen FSR east of Vernon. SAR was requested
                                                          for high angle rescue but were stood down while en
                                                          route when the motorists managed to make it up the
                                                          embankment on their own.
29 20:51      SWE    LAND      1      3    1              3 North Shore Rescue members were performing
800613                                                    patrols on Grouse Mountain when they came across
                                                          a dehydrated male. SAR members escorted the
                                                          individual out of the area to waiting BCAS.

800614                                                    an injured para-glider near the Ryan Road Farm.
                                                          The individual was carried to a location for pick-up
                                                          by helicopter and was transported to hospital with
                                                          unspecified injuries.
30 17:59      SWE    LAND      1     20    1              20 Coquitlam SAR members responded to search
800615                                                    for a missing 10 year old child in the Metro Town
                                                          area near Coquitlam. SAR volunteers were stood
                                                          down when the child arrived home on his own.

800616                                                    an elderly male tourist who was reported to have
                                                          fallen onto a riverbank in a canyon near Smithers.
                                                          SAR members were cancelled upon arrival as the
                                                          subject had fallen in an area that was accessible by
                                                          BCAS personnel.

                                                          by RCMP who reported that the subject walked out
                                                          of the bush on his own after becoming disoriented
                                                          and spending the night in the bush.

800618                                                    Princeton SAR members responded to search for a
                                                          ten year old male who went missing from his
                                                          residence in the Summerland area. The child was
                                                          found, unharmed, hiding inside a neighbour's RV.

800619              WATER                                 following report of a female floating in Lake
                                                          Okanagan. The individual returned to shore safely
                                                          and SAR was stood down.
02 14:05      SWE    LAND      1      1    1              Chilliwack SAR responded to rescue an injured ATV
800620                                                    rider on Chilliwack Mountain. Prior to the SAR
                                                          team's deployment, BCAS determined that there
                                                          was a road to the site and ambulance attendants
                                                          could access the patient.
02 14:10      SWE    LAND      1     13    1              13 Sunshine Coast SAR members responded to
800621                                                    search for a female missing on the urban trails west
                                                     of Sechelt. The individual was found wet and cold
                                                     on a logging road and escorted to the command
                                                     vehicle before being returned home.
03 13:08   SWE   LAND      1     9    1              9 Chilliwack and Kent Harrison SAR members
800622                                               responded to rescue a hiker who fell 30' down an
                                                     embankment on the hiking trail near the Harrison
                                                     Hot Springs Hotel. The individual was brought out of
                                                     the area and transported to hospital.
03 16:00   CTL   INLAND    1     5    1              5 Kelowna Marine Rescue members responded
800623           WATER                               following report of a female in Okanagan Lake. The
                                                     team was stood down by RCMP who advised that
                                                     the female had been transported to hospital.
04 04:28   SEA   LAND      1    11    1              11 Castlegar SAR volunteers responded to search
800624                                               for a missing teen in the Pass Creek area. The
                                                     youth was located slightly hypothermic, but
                                                     otherwise unharmed.
04 15:51   SWE   OCEAN          10                   10 Sunshine Coast SAR members responded to
800625                                               conduct a shoreline search, following report of a
                                                     boat floating near Hopkins Landing. SAR was stood
                                                     down when it was learned that JRCC was aware of
                                                     the vessel and no boaters were missing.
04 19:28   VIR   LAND      1    12    1              12 Salt Spring Island SAR members responded to
800626                                               search for a hiker lost in Peter Arnell Park. The
                                                     individual was found cold and wet, but otherwise
                                                     uninjured, and was turned over to the RCMP.
05 10:34   CTL   INLAND          3                   3 Kelowna Marine Rescue members responded to
800627           WATER                               investigate an overturned catamaran at the south
                                                     side of Okanagan Lake Bridge. Upon arrival at the
                                                     scene, members found that the vessel had been
                                                     righted and no rescue was required.

DANGEROUS GOODS

On 30 Sep 08, a sour gas leak was reported southwest of Dawson Creek. Several local
residents self-evacuated. 15 operators from Heron Energy and Spectra Energy
responded with H2S monitors and conducted extensive sweeps of the area but they
were unable to detect any sour gas in the area.

On 03 Oct 08, approximately 30 people were evacuated from a residential area in
Tumbler Ridge following a report of a natural gas leak. A reception centre was
established for those who were displaced. PNG dispatched a crew who arrived on scene
and crimped the line. Residents were then allowed to return to their homes.


EVIDENCE SEARCH

On 30 Sep 08, Prince George SAR members assisted the RCMP with an evidence
search east of Prince George.


MISCELLANEOUS

On 05 Oct 08, 125 passengers of a train that was involved in an incident with a car were
taken to a reception center in Delta while the train was held for investigation purposes.
The train was subsequently released and the reception center was closed.
