Timber Ridge Elementary Special Needs Kids made their first trip to East Cobb Park’s all accessible playground last month
thanks to the East Cobb Civitans. The play equipment at their school wasn’t user-friendly for some of the students so the East Cobb
Civitans stepped in with the funding for the bus trip so they could enjoy this new special needs playground. Resurgens Orthopaedics
donated the playground equipment. The site work and fencing was provided by The Friends for the East Cobb Park. The all acces-
sible playground was opened last summer.

Mosquitoes are attracted to heat, light, perspiration,
body odor, lactic acid, and carbon dioxide. These girls (only
the females bite) can use their chemical sensors to detect
carbon dioxide and lactic acid from 100 feet away. So if
mosquitoes reside in your yard, they will more than likely
 attend your outside events.
For those who like outdoor living, there is a new Marietta
company that can rid outdoor areas of annoying pests that
transmit disease and ruin your fun. Owners Kelly and Steven
Sanders brought the franchise called Mosquito Squad to the
area in January 2010. The brothers became familiar with the
company, which is part of a larger business called Outdoor
Living Brands, while living in Greenville, SC. A contributing
factor to their decision was that Mosquito Squad is at the
top of the list of the franchise systems that are surveyed and
has been awarded the “World Class Franchise” designation
according to the Franchise Research Institute. With family in
the Atlanta vicinity, the Sanders brothers decided on Marietta
as the best place to begin their new venture. Kelly Sanders
says he confirmed the business decision while standing on a
porch swatting mosquitoes one day. “I need this product,”
he says. “Our customers will, too.”
Covering Marietta and a 30-mile radius, Mosquito Squad
now offers its customers mosquito protection. Its products If so, the new answer is

My mother passed away suddenly County thanks to farmers with organic fruits and vegetables,
15 years ago in 1995. I was preg- gardeners with fresh flowers and plants, and makers of all
nant with my first child at the sorts of edible home goods – from yummy desserts to local
time. Before children I had a fast- raw honey and homemade sauces and jellies. If you’re

I really didn’t know much about markets close to East Cobbers:

           The EAST COBBER
There are numerous opportunities for publicity for your
community, club, church, school, business and family in the
EAST COBBER. To help us promote local people and their
activities, here are some tips for preparing your news article.
Include this basic information:
    > Who you are: the name of the club, church, school,
student organization, individual, etc.
    > When it is happening, including date and time.
    > Where it is being held.
    > Why it is important that the public know about the
work you are doing. Also include a contact name and phone
number for verification purposes. If the contact name and
number should be published, indicate that as well.
    Helpful hints:
    > Make it short and sweet, not long and flowery.
     > Releases should be typewritten when possible and
double spaced. Use uppercase and lowercase letters, not all

     > If including a photograph, label the event and people
on the back. Make sure to identify everyone from left to right,
row by row. Whenever possible, limit the number of subjects
in the photograph. Be mindful that pictures won’t be returned.
     > Don’t worry about form. That can be edited. It’s more
important to make sure that you have included all of the neces-
sary information.
     > Send information in as soon as possible after the event
                                                                            NO COURT DIVORCE

“I was exercising and when my heart rate rose, my jaw went numb and I had some
shortness of breath. I called my doctor and saw him the next day. After just a few
minutes, he sent me to WellStar Cardiovascular Medicine. It was a huge shock to
find that I needed a quintuple bypass. But Dr. Cooper and the whole cardiology
team really listened and took care of me.

“This was a life-changing experience. I’ve just become chair of the WellStar
Foundation’s Cardiac Community Council. It’s important to me to give back and
help raise money and awareness for the people that gave me my health, and my
   peace of mind.”

If you have heart, you can do just about anything.
Living well takes planning. It takes perseverance.
And most of all, it takes heart.

That’s why, every day, across five counties and five hospitals, WellStar
is helping people like Tony with a world-class cardiac network. From
prevention to catheterization and open-heart surgery to rehabilitation, we
put our whole hearts into taking
   care of yours. 770-956-STAR
