Pax Lodge was officially opened in 1991. The first Centre in England, Our Ark, was opened in 1939. In 1963
the name was change to Olave House. All buildings have offered a home to girl guides and girls scouts
studying, working or passing through London. Pax Lodge, located with the Olave Centre, is also used for
training and conferences.

The logo consists of three elements: the World Badge, symbolising international guiding, and an olive branch,
representing peace. The last is the dove so shaped, and on water, to reflect the first World Centre in England,
Our Ark.
The badge is a small round button of silver, with the design in deep blue. Designed by the husband of a leader
from Australia. Pax Lodge is situated in London, next to the World Bureau, as part of the Olave Centre which
is ten minutes walk from Belsize Park Underground Station. Several buses pass the end of the road.
Hampstead Heath is a short walk away. Although the plans were to open in1990, workmen problems delayed
the opening until 15 March, 1991. Pax Lodge is open all year round. Accommodation is for individuals,
families or groups. The warm and friendly atmosphere offers everything Guide members need for an
overnight, or longer, stay in London.

   Pax Lodge Song
We wish you love We wish you light
We wish you colours soft and bright.
We wish you light We wish you love
We wish you peace on the wings of a snow white dove
And with our sisters by our side
We learn to live We learn to guide
We clear the path We pave the way
To peace on Earth To a brighter day
We wish you love We wish you light
We wish you colours soft and bright.
We wish you light We wish you love
We wish you peace on the wings of a snow white dove.
