Objective
Pupils are able to write an invitation card.


Suggested Teaching Procedures
Warm-up
 Ask pupils if they have had or have been to a birthday party before.
 Ask pupils how they invited their friends to the party.


How to write an invitation card
 Watch the animation about Nick and his birthday.
 Introduce the format of an invitation card
 Help pupils identify the key information that should be included in an invitation
     card:
          Who is invited?
          Why is there a party?
          When will the party be held? (date and time)
         Where will the party be held?
         Who is holding the party?
         How do you reply?


Introduce three sample invitation cards
 Continue watching the animation about Nick’ birthday party.
 Choose and click one invitation card.
 Click  to listen for the information in the invitation card.
    Tell pupils to identify the key features of the invitation card, as noted above.
    Click Back to read and listen to the information in the other cards.


Write an invitation card for Nick (Activity 1)
 Continue watching the animation about Nick’s birthday party. Tell pupils to pay
     attention to the details of the party.
 Ask pupils to complete Nick’s invitation card to Tom by typing the information
     onto the card. (Ensure pupils complete all the lines.)
 Click the Hints button to read the information on the calendar again.
    Click the Print button to print the invitation card.
    Click the Sample Answer and ask pupils to check their card against the sample
     answer.
Write an invitation card to your friend (Activity 2)
 Ask pupils to make an invitation card for their birthday party.
 Have pupils click and choose an invitation card.
 Ask pupils to type in the information about their party.
 Tell pupils to read their card by clicking the Preview button. Ask them to print
     out their card.
 Have pupils give their card to a friend.
