n our modern, interconnected world, English-language skills are one key to success for business professionals. Business English will help you strengthen your English skills through authentic business world materials and situations. You will read about critical business topics such as globalization, international trade, advertising, and organizational management using materials from the Financial Times and other authentic business materials. You will discuss business topics, both orally and in writing, and learn about both polite and informal business English. You will become better able to understand conversations in business situations. You will learn business terminology that you can use in actual business situations. You will improve your writing about business topics.

ACTIVITIES
Explore current business topics such as globalization, international trade, organizational management Realistic business world case studies expand knowledge and refine critical thinking skills Vocabulary practice in a variety of business contexts Listening skill practice through dialogues, presentations, and authentic interviews Speaking and pronunciation practice through voice recordings sent to the instructor for evaluation Online discussions of business topics to develop fluency Role play realistic business situations Business skills practice in English such as negotiating and giving presentations E-mail, text chats, and discussion board communication with instructor and classmates facilitate collaboration for business communication activities Write letters, faxes, e-mails, memos, agendas, action minutes, and reports Read articles from the Financial Times and a variety of other business materials Pre- and post-tests to measure performance
All of these experiences will help prepare you to get ahead in today’s competitive business environment.
COURSE DESCRIPTION An upper-intermediate, elective course in both oral and written business English. It helps learners master business language and concepts as they improve vocabulary, listening, reading, and writing skills in English and practice business skills such as negotiating and giving presentations. Course content draws from authentic business materials including the Financial Times. Open to students who can place at the mid-intermediate level or above on the online Longman English Assessment test.
