The Cities of Burnside, Norwood
Payneham & St Peters and Unley are
committed to reducing the amount of
waste sent to landfill. In partnership with
Zerowaste, councils have established a
subsidised electronic waste (e-waste)
recycling program for residents.
Residents can now dispose of their unwanted electrical items and
only pay one third of the actual cost. Discounted fees range from
$1 for keyboards, to $7 for TVs. Council and Zero Waste SA will
subsidise the remaining two-thirds of the cost.
This program will be offered until 30 June 2010.
Nhat is E-Haste?
E-Waste is any unwanted item that has an electrical cord or
battery. It is the fastest growing waste stream in Australia, with
234 million e-waste items in or on their way to landfill. Examples
of e-waste include computers, televisions, and cell phones. The
service provided by E-Cycle Recovery also extends to energy-
efficient globes or other fluorescent tubes.
Nhy should you recycle E-Haste?
The best way to reduce landfill is through recycling. E-waste
contains many valuable, recoverable materials such as aluminium,
copper, gold, silver and plastics. Recycling these materials
conserves natural resources and the energy needed to produce
new products from virgin resources.
E-waste contains toxic and hazardous materials which are
damaging to our health and the environment.
