                   Student Travel Support Program Information & Application Instructions


The purpose of the Student Travel Support Program is to help students, post doctoral fellows and young
professionals travel to the 3rd International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health (ICPAPH) in
Toronto, Canada on May 5-8, 2010. This program does not support travel expenses for lab exchange
travel. Approximately four (4) students, postdoctoral fellows or young investigators will receive $500.00
Canadian each to support their travel to the conference(s). Applicants must be members of the Canadian
Obesity Network-Réseau canadien en obésité (CON-RCO) to be eligible for the award. Further information
about this award will be provided to all applicants in the notification of application receipt. Program and

                          The Application Deadline is 5 pm (EST) November 15, 2009.
ELIGIBILITY:
    1. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at an accredited university or college located in Canada and have an
        interest in obesity.
    2. Applicants applying as young professionals should have completed their PhD within the last 5 years.
    3. Applicants must be members of the Canadian Obesity Network-Réseau canadien en obésité (CON-RCO).
    4. Applicants must present an abstract (oral or poster presentation) at the Congress.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
    1. Applicants must submit their abstract to the ICPAPH by following the instructions on the Congress website
        (http://www.cflri.ca/icpaph/en/abstracts.php). Note: only the conference abstract should be submitted here.
    2. A jury composed of representatives from CON-RCO and the ICPAPH planning committee will examine all
        applications for eligibility.
    3. Applicants for the travel awards must then use the attached application form to provide all supplemental
        materials directly to CON-RCO (giese@obesitynetwork.ca). A photocopy of this form is acceptable. The
        application form must be typed or neatly printed, and submitted with the following materials:
          A.     1-page maximum typed cover letter describing your interest in obesity and how attending the
                 meeting will benefit your work.
          B.     2-page maximum Curriculum Vitae including scientific publications and presentations (the Curriculum
                 Vitae may contain only highlights and may not be a complete version)
          C.     A copy of the Abstract for a Poster or Oral Presentation that you have submitted to the Conference.
        Award recipients will be announced by January 15, 2010.
    4. Travel Expenses will be reimbursed upon completion the conference.
