R Session I: My favorite project is the canvas paintings in which students will use acrylics and their imaginations to create anything O from a modern to impressionist style painting. For the 9x12 canvas students will get to choose their canvas theme. I give students countless ideas for Yoda to funky floral. For the 11x14 canvas I let students choose, but it is from 3 different very mature painting N topics. This will be what I call “living room art.” While working on both of these canvases students will be exposed to the basics in drawing, painting & brush technique. S Session II: Students will get to choose from 2 already made and ready to paint projects. 1 - Painting a Treasure Chest: Students will get to transform an already made 12x8x8 paper mache chest into their own hand painted creation. It could be a treasure chest U with ships and gold painted all over it or pink chest with fairies. This project will encourage students to explore a them to focus on. 2 - Painting on Wooden Trash Cans: These wooden trashcans stand 13 inches tall and 10 inches across. All four sides create an M awesome space for exploring a painting theme. Some of my ideas are: Star Wars, Lego’s, a prince theme, fairies, etc. M Session III: Fun in the Pool! During our swimming sessions similar aged students will be in groups of 4 or 5. Each group will have its own adult chaperon in addition to the pool’s lifeguards. Students will have an hour to an hour and a half each day to enjoy the E center’s Olympic sized pool. We will be in the center’s 3 - 4 foot pool. The 4th - 6th grade group may swim in a separate deep R pool with parent’s written permission. Younger aged groups will only play in the 3 foot section.
