Springtime at Ironwood is the best time of the year, especially after the lasting winter we

Our 2008 summer clinic schedule is out and sign ups are available. Due to the high demand of some clinics the
past two summers, a cap of 26 will be put on each clinic to ensure a good student to teacher ratio. We will add
clinics as necessary and will do everything we can to accomadate preferences and match participants by skill level
but CLINICS WILL BE FILLED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. Registration is due May 31st for session 1 and
June 30th for session 2. PRORATING WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE SIGN UP SHEET UP TO MAy 31ST AND JUNE 30TH.
LATE SIGN UPS WILL BE ACCEPTED BUT NOT PRORATED. Rest assured we will find a spot for everyone who wants to
participate in the clinics. I do encourage you to sign up as soon as possible to ensure your spot. We will once again
have what I feel is the best tennis staff in Omaha teaching the clinics and enhancing your enjoyment of our tennis
facilities. If you have any questions call Head Tennis Pro Mike Henrich at 657-5309. See you on the courts!

Now that it’s April we are counting down the days until the swim season starts. The pool will open Saturday May 24th at
precisely 11:00 a.m. give or take a few seconds. We are looking forward to a warm and cloudless summer as opposed to
the cloudy and very chilly season we have just gone through. Speaking of spring, when new life begins… we are happy to
announce the birth of a new little swimmer! Jodi Bartling, Ironwood’s favorite swim program coordinator and assistant coach,
gave birth to a new baby girl on March 7th. Her name is Cosette Claire Bartling and she was a little early, but everyone is
   doing fine.
Speaking of swimmers; we do have our swim team staff ready to begin the season. If you did not pick up a registration at
Easter Brunch, they are available at the front desk or on line. Registration runs from April 1st to May 23rd (to be guaranteed
a tee-shirt by the first swim meet). Please mail, or turn in your form at the front desk. We are offering a trial week for first
time swimmers or those who have wanted to try out the team. We will not bill your member account until your child has
committed to the season, after the first week of practice. In order to be a member of the team, a child needs to be able to
swim the length of the pool unassisted. If your child does want to be on the team, they may wish to brush up on skills prior
to the first practice. Each child, whether a trial or permanent member needs to have a registration sheet filled out prior to
Memorial Day weekend, to avoid confusion those first few days of practice. We all get rusty over the long Nebraska winter, so
you may wish to have your swimmer brush up on their strokes this spring.
The coaching staff for 2008 is: Mark Bryant, Jodi Bartling and Caitlin Carlson. Last year’s coach, Coleen Carnaby will be staying
in Arizona finishing up her college requirements and says she will really miss the kids. Our new head coach, Mark Bryant
comes with much experience. He coached for the Shadow Ridge Sharks for six years, taking them from division “D” to “A”
during that time. He has also coached with MAC , the Elkhorn Otters, as well as the Sioux City Sharks. Needless to say, he has
had experience with “Sharks”! Jodi Bartling will be returning s an assistant coach, along with Caitlin Carlson. We are looking
forward to a great season, but we need your help! We need boys and older kids to have a winning season. Talk to friends and
other members. Swim team is a great way to cool off after tennis and keep in shape in the off season between spring and fall
   sport seasons.
A Swim Program Informational meeting will take place On Tuesday, April 29th at 6:30 in the clubhouse. All interested parties
are invited to attend. We will discuss lessons, swim team and anything else pool related. It will also be an opportunity to meet
the coaches, pool managers and swim lesson coordinator. Hope to see you there!
