The publication features current updated information regarding elder programs, facilities, and contacts in Broward County. The material is a valuable resource for professionals, as well as caregivers and seniors. The cost of the Directory is $25 (twenty-ﬁve dollars), a copy, if secured at the nonproﬁt organization’s ofﬁce, located at 5300 Hiatus Road, in Sunrise. Ten to Enter Hall of Fame On Wednesday, May 13, 10 new electees to the Dr. Nan S. Hutchison Broward Senior Hall of Fame, will be installed, at a commemorative celebration of Older Americans Month and Senior Volunteers. A Breakfast, in their honor, will be held at Diamante’s Banquet Center in Tamarac. The event begins at 9 a.m. The new Hall of Famers include: Dorothy Arbogast, Pembroke Pines; Mayor Samuel S. Brown, Lauderdale Lakes; Joan Fink, Hillsboro Beach; Hazel Haas, Margate; Judy Henry, Tamarac; Mayor Judy Paul, Davie; Mayor Sylvia Poitier, Deerﬁeld Beach; Senator Nan H. Douglas Beach, Secretary of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, will be the Keynote Speaker, at the 28th Annual Broward Aging Network Conference, calendared Thursday and Friday, May 7-8, in the OMNI Auditorium on the north campus of Broward College. The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Broward County is coordinating the educational experience which also features an opening day plenary that includes State Senators Nan Rich and Eleanor Sobel, as well as State Representative Elaine Schwartz. Registration for the conference is $15 for seniors for one day or $25 for both Thursday and Friday, including lunch. Other registrants may enroll for a cost of $35 for one day or $60 for Thursday and Friday. Greeting Cards Beneﬁt Elders The Aging & Disability Resource Center produces greeting cards to raise funds for senior services in Broward County. The messages, written by Executive Director Edith Lederberg, and designed by Information Systems Manager Chris Delez, cover a variety of topics including: Get Well; Birthday; Anniversary; and Sympathy. New Graduation and Mother’s Day Cards also are available. Each card costs $2.50 (two dollars and ﬁfty cents). If the purchaser wishes to have the item(s) mailed directly to the recipient, an additional postage charge of $.50 (ﬁfty cents) should be included, making each total $3 (three dollars).
