Sylvan Talent Show
The Sylvan Elementary Talent Show will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. This year’s show will be held in the
Northview Auditorium and will start at 7:00 pm. The show is reserved for participation by Sylvan students only, each
student will be able to participate in one act only that will last a maximum of two minutes, and each student performing
will be required to attend two practice/rehearsal sessions prior to the show. In addition, students must supply their own
music, if needed, for their performance. The first practice will be held immediately following school on Wednesday, May
5th, in the Sylvan gym. The second practice will be held in the Northview Auditorium on Monday, May 10th, from 4:00-
5:00 pm. Parents and students will be responsible for all transportation needs in order to attend practices. Transportation
arrangements must be made in advance of these dates. Our AM and PM Kindergarteners will be combining forces for
one show stopping finale (Kindergarteners will NOT attend the mandatory practices before the show). We hope you can
join us for this talent filled evening!
Student pick-up on west side of building
Parents, when picking up your child in the west parking lot (primary end), please stay in your car and wait for your child.
Do not leave your unattended car blocking the pick-up lanes. Our goal is to keep the traffic moving as smooth as
possible. When a driver leaves their car to walk up to the building, traffic behind that car gets backed up into the street.
Unfortunately, other cars that are loaded and ready to leave are then not able to do so. If you need to talk to a teacher,
park your car in any empty space available and then enter the building so that other cars are not blocked in. Otherwise,
please wait and your child will be out momentarily to meet you for their ride home. Thank you for your cooperation.
The Ohio Achievement Assessments are just around the corner. They are scheduled to take place April 19– April 30.
Please note that it is extremely important for your child to be well rested in order to do his/her best, and attendance is
crucial. Due to the importance of these tests being taken within a specific time frame, Personal Convenience Absences
(PCAs) will not be approved for students in grades 3-5 during testing. Thank you in advance for stressing the importance
of these tests. The testing schedule is provided in the school calendar section of this newsletter.
