AGA KHAN FOUNDATION CANADA University and College Seminar Series (UCSS) Investing in Quality Education at All Levels Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) is pleased to announce that it will be holding its annual University and College Seminar Series (UCSS) at nine universities and colleges across Canada between November 1st and November 15th, 2007. The seminar will be held at the following universities and colleges: University of Ottawa Friday, November 2nd, 2007 Dalhousie University Monday, November 5th, 2007 McGill University Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 HEC Montreal Wednesday, November 7th, 2007 University of Waterloo Thursday, November 8th, 2007 Seneca College Friday, November 9th, 2007 University of Toronto Monday, November 12th, 2007 University of Calgary Tuesday, November 13th, 2007 University of British Columbia Thursday, November 15th, 2007 Ms. Mahmuda Akhter, Head of the Early Childhood Education Resource Centre at BRAC’s Institute for Educational Development, Bangladesh, and Ms Safida Begum, Professional Development Advisor for Aga Khan Foundation, Afghanistan, will discuss the role of education at all levels – from early childhood to post-secondary to professional development - in facilitating the development process. The presentations will be followed by case studies and a plenary discussion. The three-hour seminar will also include information on career opportunities for students. Former participants in AKFC’s International Development Management (IDM) and International Microfinance and Microenterprise (IMM) internship programs, which offer two dozen internships each year to Canadian youth interested in getting involved in international development, will discuss their experiences with the internship program and provide tips for the application process.
