The Hydra Spyder's prototype featur
es a 502 cubic-inch, fuel-injected
engine, whereas the production unit
s contain the Corvette LS2 Gen IV e
ngine and a six-speed TKO high-perf
ormance manual transmission. It als
o has front-wheel drive, a four-whe
el disc-brake system, 17-inch rims
and wheels, and a stainless steel S
idewinder exhaust system. On the bo
at side, the hull is all aluminum,
which doesn't rust, and the upper s
tructure is made of fiberglass. A B
erkley Marine Jet powers the Hydra
Spyder, while a computerized air-ri
de retractable four-point front and
 rear suspension system keeps it af
loat. All of the additional weight
brought on the frame to function as
 a boat is at the bottom of the veh
icle. So, its heaviness doesn't imp
act the vehicle's roadworthiness. T
ransitioning from land to water or
vice versa is as simple as switchin
