President’s Message

Welcome to a new year of APICS activities! I am pleased to serve as your local president for
the 2007-08 year. Your chapter has many activities scheduled for the upcoming year. We
will be offering a full compliment of CPIM Review Courses, five Professional Development
Meetings, and our annual Breakfast meeting. We hope to add a plant tour also. In addition,
we are laying the groundwork to be able to offer the Certified Supply Chain Professional
(SCP) program within the next year. Watch the website for updates. Sup-
ply chain topics apply to most companies, not just manufacturers. We believe these offerings
will help our customers not only survive, but thrive in the competitive marketplace.

Our September meeting will feature Anne Haberkorn, CFPIM, CIRM, Jonah, speaking on
Inventory Gone Wild! Anne will give us a preview of the presentation she will make at the
International Conference in October. If you can’t make it to Conference this year, this is a
great opportunity to see a world class presenter here at home. Thanks to Dean Paull, CPIM,
CIRM, our former board member, for arranging this exceptional offering. If you are able to
attend Conference this year, it looks like it will be educational and fun. Especially the cele-
bration for APICS 50th Anniversary. Can anyone say AARP?

                           APICS SUPPLY CHAIN CONTEST

APICS has kicked off the APICS Supply Chain Contest as part of our 50th anniversary
celebration events. We invite you to participate in this contest to demonstrate the
incredible power of the supply chain and strengthen APICS members’ and customers’
personal connection to your Chapter and the association.
The contest concept is simple but can deliver powerful results:
 • APICS will send every member and customer a Tyvek wristband and an introductory
letter that includes the contest details and asks members and customers to:
ο Participate in the APICS Supply Chain Contest by providing their name, company, e-
mail and message. The message can be anything including a memorable APICS moment,
why they joined APICS, what they gained from APICS, etc.
ο Donate at least $1 to their local Chapter. Chapters will collect the wristbands and the
 donations and send to Regions
ο Wristbands will be used as links to make the chain
ο Donations will be contributed to a local America 's Second Harvest food bank
ο The Region with the longest chain will be recognized and prizes* will be presented at
the 2007 APICS International Conference and Exposition
ο Regional chains will be publicly unfurled at the annual conference
ο Everyone who makes a monetary donation will be entered in a drawing for a prize* and
will also be featured in ongoing promotions (whenever possible).
The duration of the contest is March 21 - October 20, 2007. Materials are being mailed and
 you should receive yours soon.
