AFS news

    Request for AFS support in the batch system CODINE
       proposal for AFS support sent to GENIAS
       (will be similar to support in Loadleveler)
       working version expected soon (end 98?)
    Request for AFS support in Legato Networker
       should be similar to support for Windows NT
       no reaction at all thus far
    Work in progress on AFS/Kerberos4 environment
       based on free Kerberos sources from Sweden
       (free of US export restrictions)
       login and xlock taken from distribution
       xdm and (wu-)ftpd modified by A. Wachsmann

    HEPiX X11 environment version 3.2.2 (CERN) in production
    fvwm2 will replace mwm and fvwm window managers
    KDE under investigation

    Security policies for PC’s (by category)
    CERT recommendations followed by installing patches
    remarkable increase of security attacks (approx 2 per week seen)
