REPORT FROM THE MEDICAL COMMITTEE FOR THE CHRISTMAS MEETING OF CHIEF PLEAS 2005 The committee are pleased to report that they have been successful in finding a suitable and well qualified doctor to replace Dr M Bedford on his retirement. Dr Teunisse is 46 years of age and comes with an excellent CV and references and we are fortunate to have received his application and the subsequent acceptance of the post. He was born and educated in the Netherlands and came to practice in the UK on the Isle of Islay in 1995. He has experience of single handed practice and performing minor procedures, and is no stranger to island life. At present he is in practice on the Island of Skye. Dr Frank Teunisse and his wife Heleen will be coming over to Sark and he will be taking over the practice at the beginning of March. The committee wish to express their thanks to Dr Mike Bedford and to Dr Stephen Henry for their help and advice in the assessment procedure. We also wish to thank Dr Bedford and Mrs Barrows for agreeing to continue beyond their original retirement date of end of January to help Dr Teunisse into the working of the practice. Proposition: That Chief Pleas give formal approval for the President of the Medical Committee to sign the contract for the post of Island General Practitioner and Medical Officer of Health with Doctor F Teunisse and for the Trustees of Island Property to sign the lease to allow the doctor to hold the Medical Centre for as long as he remains the island doctor.
