                                   June 5th, 2010
The City of La Grange welcomes your post to compete in the La Grange Law
Enforcement Explorer Competition ’10.

The La Grange Police Department, La Grange I.S.D., and the City of La Grange are
sponsoring this Law Enforcement Explorer competition. The competition is on Saturday
June 5th. Check in will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the high school locate out 820 South Vail. La
Grange, Texas. The competition will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and run to around 7:00
p.m.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Team registration and liability form must
be received on or before May 7h, 2010. All fees must be paid in full to La Grange
Explorer Post 900, no partial payments.

REGISTRATION: Will start on Saturday morning at 6:30 am till everyone is checked
in at the high school. Advisors will be given a packet containing time schedules for each
team and shirts.

EVENTS/SCENARIOS: Information in the provided packet will inform advisors and
teams of their scheduled times. Each team should be set up and within the designated
location at least 15 minutes prior to the event time. All team events will be role play
scenarios. Each event will start with a period for instructions, scenario description and
rules of the event. This is where the team leaders should clarify instructions and request
additional assistance: K-9 unit, Medical unit or even required backup. There will be time
after the scenario for scoring and critique by the judge. Please be sure to be on time or
you may lose that slot to the next team.

REGISTRATION FEES: There is a $35 registration fee for each participating explorer,
and $25 registration fee for each advisor. This fee includes a competition T-shirt and the
meals for the day. Money orders or post checks are preferred and should be made
payable to La Grange Explorer Post 900.

MEALS: All meals will be served at the high school.

AWARDS: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded for each scenario. There
will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Overall Trophies awarded for the three highest scoring
teams. Also a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Overall Post.
UNIFORMS: Post Uniforms are mandatory. Your post should be dressed in uniform
manner and in post required uniforms.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Explorers are reminded to bring a standard handcuff case,
and handcuffs and flashlight. Explorers may use anything that their post issues with the
exception of any item listed below in the disqualifying reminder.

DISQUALIFYING REMINDER: Explorers ARE NOT to bring any of the following
items; chemical devices (maces, tear gas, pepper spray), batons, teasers, guns, or any
other weapons including facsimile of a weapon (agencies with RED or BLUE can use
them) or dud ammo. Anyone caught with any of the above listed items may cause their
team and/or post to be disqualified. Discussion of any scenarios by team/post will result
in a score of “0” for that scenario.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT: During the scenario, if a Actor or Explorer is faced with
possible injury the word “PAIN” will stop the scenario Once the situation has been
resolved the scenario may continue or may stop depending on the circumstances. If the
Explorer continues to use unnecessary roughness, the judge will stop the scenario and it
will result in a disqualification to the team for that event.

ADVISORS: Two people from the agency (Advisor &/or Parent) may enter the scenario
and stand in the free area which will be available for observing, to take pictures or video
record their team if the judge grants permission. Any advisor observed attempting to
assist their team in any way, verbally or by any other action, will result in having their
team disqualified from that event. This is not fair to the team as this will decrease the
team’s chance for overall trophies. Advisors are allowed to sit in on the critique but will
not be permitted to ask question of the judges. No scores will be given out during the
course of the day, do not ask the judges or score keeper.

GRIEVANCES: If there happens to be a grievance, problem, complaint or question the
advisor must bring it to the attention of the Command Center. The grievance, problem,
complaint or question will be reviewed by an onsite committee. THE COMMITTEE’S
DECISION IS FINAL.
