Mar 22, 2009 I've run 2 scans and updated but McAfee says I'm clean, yet I keep getting "Spyware Protect 2009
alert!" popups. This says Infiltration Alert, your computer is being attacked.... Details.... A second popup "Spyware
alert! Vulnerabilities found... Activate Spyware Protect 2009 button or Stay unprotected button" It has blocked my
internet explorer and I don't know what to do now. Please Help!

in response to: hl3b Nice to hear the problem seems fixed. :)

Just to be sure I would advise to scan your PC with the other two programs mentioned, and maybe an online
scanner as well, just to make sure everything is gone.

in response to: osprey67 You mean your desktop wallpaper? Right-click an empty part of the desktop and select
Personalize.

Or go to any picture you have stored that has the necessary dimensions and right-click and select "Set as Desktop
Background".

If you can't find your original one then you'll have to do some research yourself on getting it back.

Mar 30, 2009 7. Am I safe now? Mar 30, 2009 9:56 AM

in response to: Ex_Brit I just had the same occurrence and did not do the above mentioned steps. This attack
occurred right after I downloaded Azerius-Vuze client software for the torrent website. I asked for trouble by trying
a music share website recommended by a friend. As soon as it installed, I started getting the pop-up warnings. I
quickly disabled my computer from the network and after a few tense moments was able to restore my WinXP to
yesterday. I ran a virus scan and that is where I am now. Is there anything else I need to do. Do I need any other
spyware, trojan or adware software other than my McAfee? I saw the recs. from Bastiaan, should I do the same now
that my issue seems to be resolved?
Thanks, mmm

in response to: mmmchew It would not do any harm to run the scans anyway, just to be sure. Report back please
so I can lock this topic as it is really solved.

in response to: Ex_Brit I ran the 3 scans to hopefully clean whatever infected my computer. Several files were
highlighted and removed. Thank you for your quick response. I haven't ever had to use this service, and am glad I
am getting the service that I paid for. Good work!
