Technical details Double-track extension of LRT Line No. 2 South by 2.2 km, including re-
design of the connection to the depot in Nantes, France
To improve the local public passenger transport services, the LRT net-
work of Nantes has been consistently developed. After several ap-
proaches, OBERMEYER succeeded in being involved in this project in
view of their profound and extensive experience in the field of developing
LRT Line No. 2 will be extended by an additional 2.2 km to the west, be-
yond the present terminal station “Trocadière”.
In the course of the double-track development of the line it was unavoid-
able to replan the connection to the streetcar depot “Trocadière”. The
relocation of an existing track connection, which was designed for budg-
etary reasons, constitutes a unique feature in LRT planning.
In the project planning, OBERMEYER was largely supported by local
architects so that the track could be integrated harmoniously into the ur-
ban environment. The partly extremely narrow space between the existing
buildings constituted a challenge to the creativity of the planners in the
integration of the track into the available street space.
