Dubey 2 Course Outline SUMMARY OBJECTIVES Magic Tips in Motivation This course will help project chairmen to motivate themselves and project committee members. Through this training, you can better motivate yourself and your team members by understand the urgent needs and own characters 1. Opening introduction 2. Why motivation is important to members? 3. 4 major tips Understand your urgent needs 4. 1st tip: 5. 2nd tip: Make your DREAM come True 6. 3rd tip: Understand yourself, understand your team mate 7. 4th tip: : The best motivation is appreciation 8. Reference books 9. Summary Minimum time required: 1 Hours – Maximum time needed: 2 Hours MAIN POINTS LENGTH PARTICIPANTS EQUIPMENT • • • • • • LCD projector with large screen CD player 2 flipcharts 1 pen for each participants 1 pack of 12 color pen for each group 50 piece of A4 paper per group MATERIALS REFERENCES 1. Manual • ROOM LAYOUT • • 6 round tables with 5 seats if there are 30 participants. If we have 36 participants, six tables of six 2 regular tables with 3 seats at the back for trainer and logistic team 1 table for the audiovisual equipments 3 Time, Slides and Materials Notes for the Trainer Trainer preparation As a trainer, it is essential to get equip before conducting a training. This training program use the understanding of people character & using the right & correct method according to their character to motivate them. So it is essential for trainers to do some research and better understand different character of people. It is always recommended training to do some research before the course and by the of this trainer guide, we provide some related web site (Page 12) and study to better equip ourselves before we conduct the training. Opening Why motivation is important to members? As a leader of a JCI project it is very common for us to equip the skills of motivation because we always need to motivate members to be Organization Committee, to be project chairman or joining JC activities. Share the objective of the training Through this training, participants can better motivate other by understand their character. It will become more effective. You can then ask whether these objectives match their expectorations and readjust the expectation if required After the presentation of the objectives, perform the following activities: “Are you ready, we are going to share 4 motivation tips you can apply for JC, career or family” Module 1: “Understand your urgent needs” For an effective motivation, we need to understand their driving force. Through this exercise, we help the participants to identify their urgent needs. Normally the “Urgent needs” within coming 6 months will have the key driving force to be success. Activities • • • Distribute each people 3 paper Ask them to write down following Relaxing music 4 Time, Slides and Materials Notes for the Trainer • Step 1: Write the top 3 urgent needs (within 6 months) on each paper (related to your career or JC path in coming 6 months (3 min.) Remark: the urgent needs need to have quantified. For Example, 1) I would like to have 20% growth in membership. 2) I would like to organize a 100 children CD project. 3) I would be a TOYP Project chairman with 20 organization committee members. Step 2: Select the most urgent needs and keep it, for the rest, please give to the trainer • • “Now the one you keep on your hand is your “Top needs” that you want to achieve”. Pls draw your urgent needs & the sense when you can achieve the urgent needs.” Debrief: “By elimination process, participants can sort out their urgent needs and this can be their target and driving force to be success. We need to understand their driving force of your members. So we can stay on the members feet consideration and motivate them by understand their needs easier. More important, as leaders, you need to help your members to CREATE the sense when they success. Drawing helps them to picture the happiness when they success. Therefore, drawing the successful sense is very important.” Through drawing the successful sense of urgent needs, you can know what the key driving force behind so that we can be more effective to motivate the members. e.g. if the key driving force is making more friends in JC, we will use making more friends and expand social network to motivate members to be project chairman If the key driving force is learning to be leader in JC & career, we will show what leadership skills that they can learn of being project chairman Module 2: Make the DREAM come True For an effective motivation, we need to understand their driving force. Through this exercise, we help the participants Activities Steps: 1) Select the most important urgent needs 2) Draw the sense of your urgent needs come True on a A4 paper with color pens 5 Time, Slides and Materials Notes for the Trainer 3) 2 people in a team and spend 2 min each to share with their sense of when the dream come True 4) Then, put all the drawn A4 paper in a circle 5) Invite the participant to go around in a circle to observe other team-mate’s drawing (their dream) – 3 min Debrief: “How to you feel when dream come true? Do you feel good? To visualize the dream come true can assist you to put you dream in action. So when you motivate another, you can help them to visualize the picture when they success.” Module 3, “Understand yourself, understand your team mate” “Different people have different character, if we can motivate members by understand their character, the communication and motivate process will be more effective. Let’s see how we classified their characters by following activities” Remark: For trainers who conduct this session needs to do some research and study of the reference list to enrich your knowledge of explain the 4 characters. Activities: Divide the students into 4 teams as below Group A: Task Oriented People Group B: People Oriented People Group C: Power Oriented People Group D: Analytical People Each team will be given 36 paper cards and each paper card printed with one character printed on the given slide. “This objective of the activity helps us to understand the major characteristics of each 4 major character. Trainer needs to divide the participants into 4 teams before we start the activities. Each team will be given 36 paper cards printed with different characters. Please discuss within your team and select only the “8” best fit characteristic matching your given character. Time limited is 4 min and presentation time for each team is 1 min presentation.” Learning objective: Student can better understand the key characteristic of each character. 6 Time, Slides and Materials Notes for the Trainer Explain 4 key character of each group Activities: Explain each character in details by given example in their countries. Select which groups who have most of the answer correct & give them a prize” Trainers needs to do some research from the reference list & give some role model example in local countries or use below example to debrief in details. A) Task oriented people Invite Group A to present the characteristic of Task Oriented People and check whether their answer is matched with the power point or not Please explain the key character shown in power point Give them an example in your own country or ask if any participant has an example that matches this character B) People oriented people Invite Group C to present the characteristic of People Oriented People and check whether their answer is matched with the power point or not Please explain the key character shown in power point Give them an example in your own country or ask if any participant has an example that matches this character C) Power oriented people Invite Group C to present the characteristic of Power Oriented People and check whether their answer is matched with the power point or not Please explain the key character shown in power point Give them an example in your own country or ask if any participant has an example that matches this character D) Analytical people Invite Group D to present the characteristic of Analytical People and check whether their answer is matched with the power point or not Please explain the key character shown in power point Give them an example in your own country or ask if any participant has an example that matches this character Activities: Fit the student in their character 7 Time, Slides and Materials Notes for the Trainer After explain each characters in details by trainers, students could easy identify who kind of character they should below to. Ask the student think which character they should below to & group them in same team. “After we explain 4 characters in details, you may easily classify which character you should below to. Please group into 4 NEW TEAM, each team represent ONE characters. Module 4: The best motivation is appreciation Through the role play activities to cross selling different characters of people and motivate them to be project chairman. Learning objective: Aim for better practice how to motivate other by understand different people concern, interest from the character Activities: Give each group people a task to motivate the other group of people to be “Ten Outstanding Yong Person Award” Organization Committee chairman - Group A Task Oriented People, Task C Power Oriented People cross sell each other - Group B People Oriented People, Task D Analytical People cross sell each other Given 1 min explanation, each team will have 1 min for role play presentation to motivate other character people Given 4 min for team discussion & preparation After each role play, the cross team will response on whether they buy or not buy the present team in how to motivate them and provide feedback or suggestions Total 20 min After the role play activities, we understand some motivate point work and some no work Let’s see what is the effective way to motivate 4 major character of people by understand their character better. Role Play Step 1: 1.1) Group C, Power Oriented People sell to Group A, Task Oriented People -1 min motivation 8 Time, Slides and Materials Notes for the Trainer 1.2) After each role play, give target selling team to response on whether they buy or not buy the point of motivation 1.3) Trainer go through the key motivation point of Eagle as given PowerPoint if there is any point missing during the role play If possible, give them an example in daily life if required e.g. “this TOYP or community development project is the most challenge project in your country, only you in our NOM can do an outstanding job because you have talent, network and leadership. You will make the project more outstanding.” Step 2: 2.1) Group D, Analytical People sell to Group B, People Oriented People -1 min motivation 2.2) After each role play, give target selling team to response whether they buy or not buy the point of motivation 2.3) Trainer go through the key motivation point of Eagle as given PowerPoint if there is any point missing during the role play If possible, give them an example in daily life if required e.g. “We need an organization committee chairman to have a good observation and build a harmony atmosphere. So your leadership style will benefit to members who follow you. We understand you have talent in quick decision maker and fast observation in members needs, responsible person, we need you to make the project success.” Step 3: 3.1) Group A, Task Oriented People sell Group C Power Oriented People -1 min motivation 3.2) After each role play, give target selling team to response whether they buy or not buy the point of motivation 3.3) Trainer go through the key motivation point of Eagle as given PowerPoint if there is any point missing during the role play If possible, give them an example in daily life if required e.g. TOYP or other community development project is a big and complication project and it needs a leader with strong mind and has great leadership with power to make decision. You will have great team members to follow our great ideal and vision. Your rich experience can show your team to do a good project. We need our strong and powerful leadership to handle lot of issues including 9 Time, Slides and Materials Notes for the Trainer sponsor, press and media. Only your power mind can help the project and lead the team! Step 4: 4.1) Group B, People Oriented People sell to Group D, Analytical People -1 min motivation 4.2) After each role play, give target selling team to response whether they buy or not buy the point of motivation 4.3) Trainer go through the key motivation point of Eagle as given PowerPoint if there is any point missing during the role play If possible, give them an example in daily life if required e.g “For this TOYP or other community development project, we would to set a role module and high standard of effective project management to Organization Committee team. All Organization Committee team members have high expectation in learning how to have a professional project management. With your past professional record, you can be a good chairman.
