ACC LAUNCHES SPORT SMART TIPS
ACC in partnership with 18 sports, has today launched a new sports safety initiative. Smart Tips Online is a convenient and accessible tool for all sports players, coaches and team managers to ensure that safety information is at the forefront of sporting activities. ‘New Zealand has a very strong sporting culture with over two thirds of us involved in some form of regular sporting activity. The only negative aspect is the level of injury that can occur in some sports. With Smart Tips Online ACC is aiming to reduce injuries by providing specific advice for each sporting code on effective practices to target typical problem areas for that particular game. For example, a typical injury in snowboarding is a broken wrist but in squash the most common injury is strained knee or ankle. So we need to make sure the right information is getting out to all of our sports people,’ says Darrin Goulding, ACC’s General Manager for Injury Prevention. Smart Tips Online is a free, online tool that allows sports people to customise and print safety information specific to their sport. The printed information can be folded to wallet size for all members of the team. The information covers everything from safety tips to warm up routines (tailored for each sport), and can include space for team phone numbers, draws, gear checklists or other important notes. Smart Tips Online builds on ACC’s already successful Smart Tips wallet cards. Now with tailored Smart Tips Online safety messages are specific to sports, accessible for everyone, easy to use and fun. To access Smart Tips Online visit www.acc.co.nz/smarttips and choose your particular sport. The screen will automatically bring up the relevant template and then you can build the wallet card to your own requirements. The sports covered by Smart Tips Online are: Rugby Touch Ultimate Athletics Weightlifting Water Polo For more information contact: Stephanie Julian Media Advisor ACC DDI: 04 918 4291 Mobile: 027 600 7359 Email: stephanie.julian@acc.co.nz Soccer Snowboarding Gymnastics Squash American Football Waka Ama Netball Skiing Cricket Orienteering Table Tennis Synchronised swimming
