Parent Workshop Test Taking Tips Ms. Slay Purpose of CRCT Designed to measure how well students acquire the knowledge described in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) The assessments yield information on academic achievement at the student, class, school, system and state levels. Information is used to diagnose individual students’ strengths and weaknesses as related to the instruction of the GPS. Content Areas and Grade Levels Tested Georgia law requires that all students in grades first through eighth take the CRCT in Reading, English/Language Arts and Math. Third through eighth grades are also assessed in Science and Social Studies. The CRCT only assesses the content standards outlined in the GPS. GKAP-R The GKAP-R is used as one source of information to determine readiness for the first grade. GKAP-R is required by law. GKAP-R is administered three times a year: First ten days of school January – February March – April Progress profiles must be placed in the students permanent record at the end of the year.
