Test Taking Tips During the Test Think Positively about doing your best Take a few deep breaths to relax. Clear your mind of anxious thoughts & worries. Push your feet down on the floor to the count of five. Push them harder & harder. Relax. Repeat. Bring all necessary materials for the test. Listen carefully to all directions, and ask if you don’t understand the directions completely. Read each question carefully before answering. Read the whole question. Read all the answers. Carefully read key words, such as NOT or OPPOSITE. Always read words that are in BOLD-PRINT or ITALICS carefully Eliminate answers you know are not correct. Work on easiest problems first to get as many points as possible. Skip difficult questions, as you may find information later in the test that will help you answer these, and return to them later. Be sure to mark your answer to the proper question on the answer sheet. Go back and answer questions that you skipped. Answer ALL questions. Double check your answers by re- reading the questions to make sure that you haven’t made any mistakes. If there are questions you don’t know the answer to, even after eliminating all of the options, choose the same answer to these questions.
