Marketing and Advertising Tips
• • • • • • • Ensure all employees are clear on the purpose of your business and know how to sell it. Test and measure all of your marketing efforts. Spend 80% of your effort on your headline – it’s the most important part of your ad. Use the AIDA method with every ad that you develop – Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. Sell benefits, benefits, benefits – not features. Don’t advertise on a left-hand page. Remember white space is a beautiful thing.

Marketing and Advertising Tips
• Never pay the full rate for advertising. If you can pay 20 or 30 percent less than the rate card, you can turn an unprofitable ad into a successful one. Don’t follow the competition, but know them well. Stop advertising now if you’re not sure it’s working. Don’t advertise because you feel you ought to. Spend the majority of your marketing budget on direct response advertising vs. brand advertising. Don’t buy into the myth that advertising is essential for business success. Most companies should ideally focus efforts on telemarketing, direct mail, internet/e-mail marketing, direct sales, PR, strategic alliances, a multi-level referral system.
