Introduction and History A+ Tutors is a company founded by Shanda Fulbright and Sarah Hardin. Both have degrees from local universities as well as teaching experience in the local school districts. We tutor all subjects at all levels from Preschool to high school education. We offer private tutoring for individuals and school districts. All of our tutoring is done at the clients home, school site, and/or local library upon request of the client. Our Tutors All of our tutors are “independent contractors”. All of our tutors will be asked to make a schedule of availability. You will be able to list your days, times and subjects you feel you are most qualified to tutor. All of our tutors hold college degrees or are currently attending a local college or university. Our tutors are paid once a month. Each tutor is paid $20-$27 per 1 hour session. This is dependent upon degrees, credentials and also experience in the classroom. Since you are an independent contractor, we do not supply any medical, worker’s compensation, or retirement benefits, nor do we provide vacation pay. After you have reached $600 you will be receive a 1099 at the end of the year. The number of clients we can offer you will be subject to your availability, the subjects you can tutor, and the location of the clients. Signed __________________ Date__________ Tutor Responsibilities 1. When given an assignment, contact the parent IMMEDIATELY, introducing yourself as the tutor and confirming the appointment. 2. Never collect a check, cash, or any form of payment. All payments will be mailed to A+ Tutors by the client. 3. Please fill out the session log after each session with the client. Document the date and duration of the session. Be sure to get your client to initial beside each session to confirm your documentation. 4. You will also be responsible for vouchers that will be collected from parent/ client after each tutor session. These vouchers will need to be turned in when you turn in your session logs. 5. All tutors will have a tutor log. This will be filled out with all of your sessions. The documentation on this log should match the client documentation. 6. Be sure to mail or bring all client forms to A+ Tutors by the 20th of every month. You will be mailed your check on the 15th of the following month. Getting your documentation to us after the 20th will result in your check being delayed. No advancements in pay will be allowed. The Tutor Session 1. An adult must be present in the home for safety and liability considerations. Never put yourself in a situation where you are alone with a child. 2. The tutor must never transport a student at any time. 3.Tutors should always dress professionally. No shorts, flip flops, sweatshirts, etc. 4. Give client’s your phone # and give them advance notice on any changes or cancellations. Also, request advance notice if the parents are going to change or cancel the appointment. 5. Keep regular scheduled hours each week and be on time. Punctuality is a must!! 6. If your client asks to cancel a lesson, set up a make-up lesson the same week. 7. Please notify A+ Tutors when the client stops requesting lessons . Important Policies and Procedures 1. All student/client information is confidential. 2. The tutor is responsible to report any suspected child abuse or missing person to A+ Tutors. 3. A+ Tutors offers it’s services to everyone and does not discriminate regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic groups, religion, color, or disabilities. Ethical Standards Policy Under no circumstances or at any time is it permitted to offer the clients of A+ Tutors a lesser hourly rate in order to obtain these clients for yourselves. We value our tutors and respect the quality of education, that is why we make sure our tutors are qualified to teach the clients we serve. It would be unethical for anyone who is currently contracted under A+ Tutors to work with our clients under any other tutorial arrangement. The fine for stealing customers from our company can be up to $2500.00. If there is any suspicion or indication that our tutors are engaging in peddling our clients for themselves, we will have to take legal action. There have been no problems with this so far, however, our company is growing and our clients are increasing every week. The benefits of working for A+ Tutors allows our tutors the flexibility of scheduling, payment for your services regardless of whether payment has been received by the client, and the opportunity to work for a growing company with many other prospective positions. A+ Tutors is a new company and is currently growing and expanding by leaps and bounds. Your honesty and integrity will be greatly rewarded. If at any time I decide that I do not want to tutor under the company A+ Tutors, I will call either Shanda Fulbright or Sarah Hardin with this information and my contract will be terminated. I am also aware that I will accept no payment from clients but will be paid directly by A+ Tutors on the 15th of every month, in accordance with the Tutor Responsibilities guidelines (#6). I have received the Tutor Responsibilities and Tutor Introduction forms, and have been made aware of my responsibilities as a tutor and the policies and procedures upheld by A+ Tutors. Signed _____________________ Date_____________ A+ Tutors Termination Policy 3 Step Process: The following offenses may result in a step: *Complaint from clients about punctuality, no-show without notification, or any other behavioral concerns. *No client initials on session logs. *Late session logs. You will receive a phone call (verbal warning) and a written letter for the first and second offense. The third step will result in a phone call and a termination letter. These are just examples of situations that could result in a step. This is not an all inclusive letter. Grounds for immediate termination: *Peddling clients *Engaging in inappropriate relationships with clients, which could result in criminal action.
