                                        Fight Arthritis Pain
With this rallying cry, the Arthritis Foundation began 2010 with the awareness-raising
Message from the clout of a national Ad Council campaign. This Ad Council campaign is a once-in-a-life-
President time opportunity for the Arthritis Foundation, as arthritis awareness is the key to all we
hope to achieve as an organization: awareness that arthritis is the most common cause
of disability in our country today… that something can be done about arthritis… that
lives can be improved… that research brings us better treatments and closer to a cure.
On average, national Ad Council campaigns result in $28 million in donated media
over the course of the campaign. The Ad Council has created such iconic messages as
“A mind is a terrible thing to waste” and “Only you can prevent forest fires.” We are
gratified that our important message will now be elevated to the status it deserves in
                                                                                                               - Lisa T., Stow
our nation’s consciousness, given the serious impact of arthritis on individuals, families,
communities and our health care system.
Today Fight Arthritis Pain—Moving is the Best Medicine is the theme of
a three-year campaign designed to initiate a national dialogue among adults with
ANNUAL MEETING osteoarthritis (OA) and empower them to take simple steps to reduce pain, increase
mobility and slow their arthritis progression.

On February 4, 2010 in Washington, D.C., the Ad Council campaign was launched in
Shaker Heights Country Club conjunction with the National Public Health Agenda for Osteoarthritis. OA is the most

Shaker Heights, Ohio that nearly 25 percent of the U.S. population will have doctor-diagnosed arthritis.
The campaign seeks to debunk the myth that arthritis is simply an inevitable aspect
