        Spotlights .... Friends of Library .... for year 2009
     Successful years since 1993:
        This Friends group was registered as a Federal nonprofit (401 (c)3 in January of 1995. The state of
     Colorado Articles of Incorporation was issued on January 18, 1995.

     The mission and purpose (see bottom of page 4) is to help support activities, programs and projects at the
     Westminster libraries.
                           Since the first entry into the Friends’ treasurer’s report in July
                        1994, the FRIENDS has made donations amounting to $185,000 to
                        the Westminster Public Library services.
                            For the year 2009 donations included Dear Reader, Library
                        Programs, summer reading program, the furniture for Language
                        Learning Center, Book Club bags and dividers for the Teen
                          The Board has recently approved to keep the pledged donation of
                        $16,000 to the library for 2010 the same as in 2009 which would
                        include Dear Reader, Green Bags, Programs, Speak English,
                        Summer reading and extra requests.

      ******Those donations have been made possible through many used books sales, used
           book events, Gift Shop sales of gift items and books sales, membership dues and
           business donations.******

     In the two beautiful new libraries, built by the City of Westminster in the last 12 years, there are designated
     areas for the Friends and its business.
                         The Gift Shop at College Hill Library is open a few hours each day by
                     volunteers. Besides a nice collection of gifts, there are shelves of used
                     books available for sale at all times in the alcove of the Gift Shop.
                         At Irving Street Library there are shelves filled with used books for
                     sale at all times.

     “High Tech - WEB sites”
 The City of Westminster has a WEB site with many links to its history, government,
       members of city council, and to its many city departments with links to special services of each
           There is a link to Parks, Recreation and Libraries with pictures of the two libraries and all programs
       and information about using the libraries.
            There are two pictures of the Language Learning Center showing the results of the donations from
       the Friends, and also a picture taken in the alcove of the Gift Shop plus a link to the most recent
       “Friends to Friends” newsletter.

             Starting at 11 a.m., come and listen to stories of the season
             as told by three members of the Broomfield SpellBinders.

                       will each tell a ten to twelve minute tale.
              This will be a fantastic time to relax and enjoy stories told
                               with three distinct voices.

      The purpose of the Friends of the Westminster Public Library is to advance and encourage literacy among our
    Westminster community, both youth and adults, through experiences in theater, dance, music and visual arts, to promote
    the Westminster Public Library to the Westminster community, to engage in activities which will generate financial
    support for the Library’s services to the community and to confer with the Westminster Parks, Recreation Library Board
