Superior Performance
Evaluations
Most managers and employees don’t fully understand the value of the
performance evaluation. It is usually seen as a way to determine if an employee
is to be given a raise or promotion. However, the most effective performance
evaluations focus on employee development, by identifying employee strengths
and development needs, and in the creation of an action plan for performance
improvement. This course teaches a method of evaluation that enables a
manager or supervisor to evaluated employees in a superior manner.
When you have completed this class, you should be able to:
• Understand the importance of performance evaluations
• View the performance evaluation as a developmental tool
• Adequately prepare for the performance evaluation process
• Conduct an effective performance evaluation discussion
• Avoid “pitfalls” during the evaluation discussion
• Discuss unsatisfactory performance
• Get employees involved in developing improvement plans
• Follow through, monitor and document the results of performance evaluations
• Develop an action plan to improve performance evaluation skills
Each person attending this class receives sample management and employee
performance evaluation rating forms and action plans for improvement. Part of
this class will consist of practice, observation and feedback.
