e Diplomas paying a total of US$349
 for the degrees excluding freight
charges without any studying on his
 part or examinations to take.

ine before buying the degrees and w
as assured that Belford University
degrees are perfectly legal, proper
ly accredited and accepted all over
 the world. In order for an applica
nt to qualify for a Belford online
degree, the candidate must have suf
ficient 'life experience' or an 'on
line equivalency test' which can be
 done under one hour.
True Diploma have no degrees of the
ir own to offer for they sell repli
ca and imitation degrees from about
 115 genuine universities including
 Ivy League universities such as Br
own University and Cornell Universi
ty. The degrees offered by True Dip
loma are certainly fakes and they t
ell you upfront about it.

When Lim received The Belford Unive
rsity degree, he found that it was
very impressive. Along with the deg
ree package were also educational t
ranscripts with grades for each mod
ule. The university seal is embosse
d on the degree and looks authentic
. How could there be grades and tra
nscripts if tests and examinations
are not taken?

The journalism degree though can be
 easily spotted as a fake. There ar
e glaring misspelling and grammatic
al errors. For example, in his degr
ee, December was spelt as Decemberf.

He reported that in the United Stat
es, fake degree scams are so rampan
t that the problem is seen as a nat
ional security threat. An audit in
May 2004 showed that a total of 463
 employees in the federal governmen
t had fake academic degrees. Some w
ere even high ranking officials in
sensitive positions with top level
security clearance to boot.

According to fake degree mill exper
t John Bear, co-author of Degree Mi
lls, fake degree mills are a billio
n dollar industry having sold thous
ands of fake online degrees and dip
lomas every week internationally.

Although some employers may check t
he qualifications of a prospective
employees directly by calling up th
e university which awarded the degr
ees, this screening may not be effe
ctive against some degree mills as
some of these degree mills provide
verification services. Employers wh
o called are told that the job appl
icant is indeed a graduate from tha
t particular university.

However, not all college and univer
sity online degree programs are fra
uds. There are some great universit
ies such as Harvard University offe
r online degrees.

So if you want to get an online deg
ree, then it is prudent for you to
do a thorough due diligence and che
ck with your local educational auth
orities for the online university's
 authenticity so that you will not
end up with a fake degree by a cost
ly mistake.
