					Job Description for the Chief Executive
The chief executive is responsible for leadership and management of Magnolia Hospital Foundation, a
nonprofit organization that exists to support Magnolia Hospital and its mission to provide quality health
care services to people in its service region regardless of their ability to pay. The organization provides the
following services:
          leadership, planning, interpretation, implementation of the development of fund raising in all
              available markets, using every vehicle which proves effective for our area
          seeks out potential sources of funding and develops relationships with these sources in order
              to obtain maximum funding.
          Enlists, trains and equips volunteers to seek funds
          helps people in finding meaning in charitable giving
          helps in planned gift process
          Evaluates all efforts through the paradigms of other fund raising shops and comparisons in
              ethics and effectiveness.
          administration of funds to help people through Magnolia Hospital
          promotes philanthropy and the benefits to the donor as well as the recipient
          Tax deductibility and documentation of gifts as required by IRS regulations.

The chief executive reports to and works in partnership with the Administrator of the Hospital and the
Foundation board of directors and is responsible for developing and managing the organization's budget,
developing and supervising a paid staff.

Qualifications and Characteristics
         •   Minimum of five years' experience working in a nonprofit organization, including supervising
             staff and working with a board of directors
         •   Academic degree and/or extensive experience in health care philanthropy
         •   Working knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management, including fund accounting and budgeting
         •   Demonstrated ability in public speaking, written and oral communication, and interpersonal
             relations
         •   Experience in fund raising
         •   Maturity and high level of energy

Responsibilities
*        Oversee all programs, services, and activities to ensure that program objectives are met
*        Develop office and personnel policies
*        Conduct searches and appoint staff
*        Help board chairperson plan agendas and develop background materials for meetings of the board
of directors
*        Facilitate a regular strategic planning process
*        Manage an annual budget
*        Approve expenditures
*        Work with the board and staff to raise funds from outside sources
*        Serve as chief liaison with other community organizations and key constituent groups
Job Description for the Development Associate:
The Development Associate will be responsible to the Chief Executive in receiving assigned tasks and
completing them in a timely manner and reflecting the values of the Foundation. The Development
Associate will be invited on occasion to participate in the Foundation Board meetings.


Qualifications and Characteristics
        •    A college degree is preferred in public relations; graphic design or some other business related
             degree.
        •    Able to take directions and accomplish desired goals.
        •    A desire for excellence.
        •    Demonstrated ability in public speaking, written and oral communication, and interpersonal
             relations
        •    Experience in fund raising is preferred but not necessary.
        •    Maturity and high level of energy


Responsibilities
*       Will be assigned particular fundraising projects and will be responsible for all planning,
implementation and evaluation to ensure that program objectives are met
*       Office responsibilities will include clerical work such as typing, bookkeeping and phone duties.
    Research potential prospects and develop relationships with prospects to involve them in cause of
Foundation.
*       Participate in a regular strategic planning process
*       Stay under approved budgets
*       Communicate fully with Chief Executive in all work.
*       Work to raise funds from outside sources
*       Serve as liaison with other community organizations and key constituent groups
