TIPS ON COMPLETING
THE HEALTH CARE BURSARY APPLICATION FORM
This page contains more information about the awarding process for the Health Care Bursary, and
will help you complete your application form.
Awards are made across all health-care sectors to those students showing the greatest financial need in each
sector. Eligible programs have been chosen in consultation with the Ministry of Health and the Health Care
Bursary advisory committee from areas in which there is a demonstrated skill shortage. Not all applicants
with financial need will be awarded bursaries.
IF YOU HAVE STUDENT LOANS
The information you provided in your BC student loan application will be enough for us to determine your
financial need for bursary purposes, as long as you submit your student loan application by the bursary
deadline date. If you have a student loan from another province, you must provide the notice of
assessment showing your costs, resources and award amount so we can process your application.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE STUDENT LOANS:
COMPLETING THE FINANCIAL INFORMATION SECTION
If you do not have sufficient financial resources to attend school, and have not applied for student loan
funding, you can do so online at www.bcsap.bc.ca. We also send a list of alternative funding sources to
students who are not awarded bursaries.
When we assess applications, we use the financial information section to determine if a student will have
sufficient resources to complete the program of study, which is why we ask you to list all financial resources
in the income and asset section. For these reasons you may want to consider the following:
Is it clear from the information you provide that you have sufficient resources to complete your program?
For instance, if you are living independently, state that you do not intend to apply for student loans, and
have no or very low income, we need to know how you will pay for rent, food, transportation, tuition, books
etc. If you don’t fully disclose your income, we will not have enough information to process your
application. We must have complete financial information to determine your financial need. The more
information you provide, the better your chances of receiving funding. Include a separate sheet if further
explanation is necessary.
