        Estimate Generator: Next is a series of screenshots of my Estimate Generator. The application, built en-
        tirely in Excel, takes a project manager through a series of questions in order to determine project scope
        of producing a Flash module from scratch. In the end, it spits out a timeline, an estimate (in formal lan-
        guage) as well as contract verbiage.

        Art: As an art example, here’s an anamorphic chalk drawing I did for fun – I wanted to see if I could come up
        with a process for reproducing this type of art. It is an optical illusion that makes this floor look like a giant pit,
        but only from the photographed angle:

eLearning:

        Activities: I co-developed every single “Learning Activity” template we have created over the last 10 years; de-
        termining the type of interaction, timing of feedback - every detail. Final templates were used by graphic artists
        and programmers, where they could simply plug in the graphics, text and voice-over. Here are some samples
        of these templates in the PS4 format:

Product & System Design (Software):

        API & Communication Map: Participating in the brainstorming with the developers, I jotted down their con-
        cepts then turned it into a graphic so that we may better explain the plan:




        CD/USB/DVD Delivery: Taking note of the growing need to deliver offline content, I designed and co-
        created a dynamic CD menu system, where the branding and menu items can be updated via text file. Deliv-
        ered as an EXE projector on CD/USB (shown on left). Similarly, I solely designed this product and created a
        repeatable process for Flash content to be converted and authored onto a DVD for playback in a set-top DVD
        player (shown on right).

        Content Editor: Easily the largest product design role I played was for PureSafety’s next generation “PS4”
        content which required an XML backend so that we may build a web-based WYSIWYG editor for our clients.
        I was in charge project management for the UI design, but I also participated in all the brainstorming, created
        all the mockups for the developers, etc.:

        Technical Manuals: The aforementioned content “editor” product required a training manual that internal
        staff and customers alike could use. So I created a 100-page reference guide complete with visuals depicting
        every single UI component, feature and its use:

Project Management:

        Professional Services: I was fortunate in that the high-publicity and technically difficult projects were given
        to me to manage. This included estimating, customer interaction, resource selection, task allocation, project
        tracking and reporting.

        I managed several projects for names like eBay, PayPal, Caterpillar Inc., Walt Disney World Corporation –
        stats and samples shown below.

            eBay:

            Though quoted for 328 hours-effort, we were authorized to exceed that in order to ‘wow’ our client, as
            there were additional contracts on the line. We finished their hour-long “Emergency Response Plan”
            training in record short time, 9 business days, for what would normally have taken 2-3 months.




            PayPal:

            I originally quoted 447 hours for an enhanced, half-hour long module regarding “Business Continu-
            ity”. The final product was visually spectacular (as I was allowed to choose the most apt designers)
            and the best part: I used exactly 457 hours to complete it. Though I’d have preferred to have used 10
            hours less - a 2.2% variance is acceptable given this was PayPal’s first project with us, and the results
            were amazing.

            Caterpillar Inc.

            Caterpillar Global, Caterpillar Insurance and, most notably, Caterpillar Inc. have tasked us with doz-
            ens of safety training content projects. The final products had to be translated and reproduced in 13
            other languages, including: Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Indian-Tamil, Indonesian,
            Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Italian (samples below).

            I worked out an agreement with a translation vendor, trained them on using our templates, created an
            internal project management and QA process, and then handed it off to another full-time project man-
            ager once the translation process was proven.

            Disney

            The content development team created some general EH&S training for Disney’s maintenance and
            mechanics crew for their resorts. The piece that I oversaw was for the augmentation of our content
            ‘Loader’ to be able to accept a language preference from the LMS (or present one to the trainee) so
            that they may choose their language before starting.

            The project was relatively simple; I had an excellent programmer at my disposal.




            In addition to the augmentations, I also monitored dozens of translation projects for Disney; providing
            guidance and technical assistance when possible.

        Data / Trends: More project management-related examples. This is me keeping tabs on a scope-creep trend of
        an overseas production vendor I used for 2 years to cover overflow:




        Project Tracking: I also created entire project tracking system, for the project managers, as a spreadsheet ap-
        plication. We have also evaluated Changepoint, Quickarrow and LiquidPlanner as alternatives to our home-
        grown tracking.
