The Rooster Booster Junior electronic ignition module is very easy to install and only has 2 wires
to connect. Once installed the points and condenser may be removed or left in place
                                           re commission
(unconnected) should you wish to re-commission them in the future.

                                                                                     ng
Before commencing with the installation your engine should be in full running order and the
ignition timing should be correctly set.

Step 1: Remove condenser and points from ignition system.
These can be left in place and al the connecting wires removed from their terminals. Remember to insulate any wires left
unconnected. This will allow reconnection in the future if required.

Step 2: Connect a wire from the Coil Connection terminal on the module to the ignition coil.
If the points have been removed then the original coil connection post may be re-used to achieve this.

Step 3: Connect a wire from the Engine Earth terminal on the module to an earth point on the
                 engine.
When the points are removed you will find a convenient screw point underneath the contact breakers on the right hand side,
                                   bolt
otherwise use any bolt to the engine casings.

Step 4: Mount the module making sure that the mounting tab is earthed to either the frame or the
                 engine.

                                 Mounting Notes
Although the Rooster Booster Junior can be mounted inside the original points cover, it is
possible it could overheat. We recommend for optimum performance that the unit is mounted
either under the saddle, inside a side panel or somewhere else on the frame, where more airflow

                                Product Description
The Rooster Booster Junior is a full electronic ignition system, triggered by the magnets in a
flywheel magneto and can be used with or without the contact breakers installed.

This module can therefore only be used on engines equipped with a Flywheel Magneto fitted
        in-board
with an in board ignition coil and (originally) a single set of contact breakers (ignition points).

         include:-
Benefits include:

+ Eliminates the condenser.
                         strength
+ Dramatically improves strength and reliability of spark.
+ Improves hot and cold starting.
+ Smoother running engine and can improve combustion.
                  eliminates
+ Can completely eliminates contact breakers.
+ Eliminates contact breaker erosion and pitting.
+ Greatly reduces ignition system maintenance.
+ Possible fuel economy improvement and lower emissions.
+ Can improve throttle response and performance.

The Rooster Booster Junior has a very simple two wire installation and should the need arise
can be uninstalled in minutes. Like most electronic systems, your machine must be correctly
operating on its original equipment before fitting.

For some applications where high or sustained revs are required for longer periods and your motorcycle
has multiple magnets in the flywheel it may be necessary to earth the Rooster Booster Junior through
the points. For optimum reliability and long term usage we recommend this configuration as the default.

The contact breakers are then not used for triggering but for allowing the module to ‘sense’ only one
magnetic pulse per revolution of the flywheel.

In this configuration the module should be wired as below. Please note that even though the points are
used, the condenser is removed from the circuit. We would recommend leaving the isolated condenser
                                                      emergency
attached to your machine to allow reconnection in an emergency.

                                         Mounting Notes
When used in conjunction with the points you must isolate the Rooster Booster Junior mounting point
               engine
from the frame\engine earth as the unit must reach ground through the contact breakers. If the module
casing connects to earth in any way, the ignition system will not fire.

                                                                                          this.
We recommend the use of fibre washers and a plastic license plate nut and bolt to achieve t

1/. Like most electronic systems, your machine must be operating correctly on its original equipment
before fitting.

2/. The most common fault found with BSA Bantam installations is caused by the coil being wired the
wrong way round. Reversed connections to the coil will operate with the original contact breakers but
may not operate with electronic ignition. If you have problems reverse the coil wiring and try again.
Colour codes are not always a reliable guide to installation of aftermarket ignition coils.

3/. If your electronic module appears to fail after running well, then rest it overnight and try again as it

contains a thermal cut out. If it does work after resting then we recommend you rewire your installation
using our ‘Sports’ configuration. If the module fails completely and requires replacement then we also
recommend you rewire to the ‘Sports’ configuration when the replacement is delivered.

                                      Enquiries and Returns
Please ensure that all returns are accompanied by a covering letter stating your name, address, contact
details and details of any failures experienced. We will also require a self addressed padded envelope \
jiffy bag with the correct postage paid to return your item.

Where possible please contact us before returning any item as we may be able to identify and rectify a
problem without seeing the module.
