Course Description:
This course is designed to provide a basic foundation for the nursing practice of the registered nurse who:
    • Delegates nursing functions in the DDA setting including medication administration.
    • Teaches medication administration to the medication technician.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should have:
   • A background of the Developmental Disabilities Administration and the COMAR regulations
        involved in responsibilities of the delegating nurse.
   • An understanding of the Nurse Delegation Law and how it relates to your responsibilities.
   • An overview of the new Medication Technician Training Program (MTTP).

Topics:
Topics included in this two-day workshop are:
    • Overview of regulation relating to responsibilities of an RN Case Manager/Delegating Nurse.
    • Case Management Principles.
    • Overview of Medication Technician Training Program (MTTP).
    • Adult Learning and Communication.

In order to register for this class, you must:

          October 28, 2008.
     • Obtain a copy of the Maryland Nurse Practice Act from the MBON. To receive your free copy by
          email, write to aalford@dhmh.state.md.us. Be sure to include your full name, Maryland RN
          license number and current mailing address.
     • Bring a copy of your current Maryland RN license to the class.


     ALL DELEGATING NURSES MUST TAKE THIS MARYLAND BOARD OF NURSING
       TRAINING TO WORK IN THE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES SETTING.

Directions from Baltimore or Washington:

   1.   Take I-95 to Maryland Route 32
   2.   Exit onto westbound Route 32, toward Columbia
   3.   Exit onto Broken Land Parkway toward Owen Brown
   4.   Turn right at the second traffic light onto Cradlerock Way
   5.   Turn left between the Mobile Gas station and McDonalds; the parking lot is
        on the Left side in front of the building

From points north or south of Columbia:

   1.   Take U. S. 29 to Broken Land Parkway
   2.   Exit onto eastbound Broken Land Parkway
   3.   Turn left at the third traffic light onto Cradlerock Way
   4.   Turn left between the Mobile Gas station and McDonalds; the parking lot is
        on the Left side in front of the building

From Maryland's Eastern Shore:

   1.   Take westbound U. S. 50 to and across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge
   2.   Exit onto northbound I-97, toward Baltimore
   3.   Exit onto westbound Maryland Route 32, toward Columbia
   4.   Exit onto Broken Land Parkway toward Owen Brown
   5.   Turn right at the second traffic light onto Cradlerock Way
   6.   Turn left between the Mobile Gas station and McDonalds; the parking lot is
        on the Left side in front of the building
