PRODUCT DATA GUIDE: DB-2000 EXTERIOR TRANSPARENT STAIN
FOR PRESSURE TREATED WOOD
Superdeck® Brand Products Exterior Transparent Stains for Pressure Treated Wood are high solids, professional grade,
exterior wood finishes developed to give superior water protection and beautiful color to pressure treated wood. This special
formula blends with the green tint of pressure treated wood to create a beautiful, natural wood tone. Superdeck Transparent
Stains use the highest quality transparent oxide pigments to inhibit damage caused by the sun. When properly applied,
surfaces develop excellent resistance to sun and water damage. Superdeck will not track, and is resistant to foot traffic
Superdeck Transparent Stains are a lubricating system that must be applied only at a rate that the surface will absorb. When
properly applied, the surface will show positive dry, yet maintain excellent oil lubrication beneath the wood surface. This unique
system contains nearly three times the solids of most conventional oil base wood stains, offering excellent water repellency
without beading, long-term lubrication, and resistance to grain checking. Superdeck creates excellent U.V. shielding properties,
plus beauty and warmth by enhancing and protecting the natural grain, texture, and color of the wood.
Superdeck Transparent Stains contain a highly effective mildewcide to inhibit the growth of mildew on the stained surface of the
wood. The combination of these quality ingredients offers the consumer a superior, high quality, long lasting, total wood
WHERE TO USE:
Use on decks, siding, fences, shakes, natural wood and log homes, outdoor furniture, gazebos, spa cabinets, pressure treated,
and other exterior wood surfaces, where it is important to enhance and protect the wood’s natural beauty.

TUNG OIL (CHINA WOOD OIL):
China wood oil is superior to other oils in its combination of excellent properties. This oil is characterized by fast drying,
hardness, flexibility, toughness, and excellent water resistance.
LINSEED OIL ALKYD RESIN:
A very long oil alkyd resin system which exhibits long term durability, deep penetration into wood surfaces, and excellent water
A highly refined paraffin oil (not a wax) is incorporated to give the wood luster, lubricate the wood fibers, and aid in product
TRANSPARENT OXIDES (HYDRATED FERRIC OXIDES):
Transparent oxides are microscopically ground strategic metals. These oxides exhibit the transparency of a dye; yet out
perform dyes and other colorants in U.V. screening properties, durability and chemical resistance. Transparent oxides add
beauty and warmth by enhancing the natural grain, texture and beauty of the wood.
Superdeck Transparent Stains contain a highly effective mildewcide (Butyl Carbonate) to inhibit growth of mildew on the stained
surface of the wood.

DO NOT APPLY OVER SEALED SURFACES. REMOVE ALL FINISHES. CLEAN AND PREPARE ALL SURFACES PRIOR
TO STAINING. Finishes can be removed with Superdeck ® Brand Products Wood Cleaner or Superdeck ® Brand Products
Allow new wood that has not been kiln dried to season or dry before staining. Dry time will vary depending on weather and
moisture content of wood.
PRESSURE TREATED WOOD:
New wood may be clean enough to directly apply stain. If not, or if wood has weathered, thoroughly clean surface with
Superdeck Brand Products Wood Cleaner.
NEW REDWOOD and CEDAR:
New wood may be clean enough to directly apply stain. If not, clean surface with Superdeck Brand Products Wood
WEATHERED REDWOOD and CEDAR:
Surface must be free from dirt and other foreign materials. Thoroughly clean surface with Superdeck Brand Products Wood
Cleaner. Rinse surface with water and apply Superdeck Brand Products Wood Brightener to remove drawn tannin stains and
brighten wood to its original color. Always use Wood Brightener as the final step when cleaning Redwood or Cedar.
May be brushed, rolled or sprayed. If sprayed, use the lowest possible pressure needed for a reasonable spray pattern. Back
rolling is suggested when spraying, working the product smoothly and evenly into the wood. This will decrease the possibility of
pools or puddles on the surface and ensure a smooth, even, properly penetrated finish.
Stir well before and occasionally during use. Be sure surface is thoroughly dry before applying product. Proper application is
essential in order to accomplish the full benefits of product appearance and performance. Different wood species, textures and
natural color will affect finished shade. TEST A SMALL AREA FIRST before coating entire project. Superdeck is a penetrating
stain that must be applied only at a rate that the wood will absorb. DO NOT POOL OR PUDDLE PRODUCT ON SURFACE.
Excess product allowed to sit on surface will result in a tacky finish and extended dry time. Remove tacky finish with mineral
spirits within 24 hours of application or a mild solution of Superdeck® Brand Products Wood Cleaner after 24 hours. When
properly applied the wood surface will have positive dry and the wood fibers beneath the surface will maintain excellent
Apply product at temperatures above 40° F. or below 95° F. Product will not penetrate properly if the temperature of the
wood is above 95° F. Do not apply if wood surface is hot to touch or if rain is imminent.
NUMBER OF COATS:
Superdeck Wood Stain is a one-coat system. Rough sawn surfaces may require two coats. If two coats are desired, test a
small area for proper penetration and dry before doing entire job. DO NOT APPLY TWO COATS ON NEW OR SMOOTH
HORIZONTAL WOOD SURFACES, SUCH AS DECKING.
DRY TIME AT 77° F.
8 hours to touch, 24 hours for traffic. Dry time can be affected by species of wood, porosity of wood, wood moisture content,
and weather conditions.
None required. Product is supplied ready to use.
Approximate spread rate over typical species of pressure treated wood: New Smooth Millwork, 250-350 sq. ft. /gal. New
Rough Sawn, 150-250 sq. ft. /gal. Surface texture, method of application and wood moisture content will affect coverage.
